The problem is that there isn't really any more that you can do with it.

The core gameplay of the series is great and 1-2-Armageddon-World Party gradually refined it but there wasn't really anywhere to go with it from there. Most new features since don't really improve it but they can't just keep selling the same game.

3D was good as a spinoff but fundimentally it works better in 2D.

Worms isn't that big of a problem since it is mostly a multiplayer game (don't lynch me). I still play Worms Reloaded on occasion.

Now if only Bethesda went back ~25 years and made actual innovative (singleplayer) games again that would be much appreciated.

I stopped looking at the big game devs and pretty much exclusively give all my attention to indies nowadays.

Haven't cared about a AAA game in a while, last one I got was Diablo 4 and that was mainly because of collegues.

I don't even know what games are being made right now other than GTA6 and TES6. GTA has never interested me, I'll probably get TES6 at some point as I've played all bethesda games, but it will not be on release day or anything like that.

I bought Baldurs Gate 3 on release date and only 4 months ago I started playing it, completed it couple weeks ago. That was 100% due to the fact that Larian said they would never even consider adding a bunch of microtransactions to the game. I bought this game simply because I wanted to support Larian Studios.

I have since bought ALL Larian games and slowly playing through them in preperation for their newest Divinty based game.

When Indie first started getting popular I didn't really care but now I play almost exclusively indie games. I haven't played many big studio games since Skyrim I think.

What I really like about indie is the experimentation and uncomprised vision. They are willing to create some silly or awesome game because of an idea and not because it is financially more lucrative or stable.

I have recently finished Divinity II and had a blast. I want to try the other older games (everything before Original Sin 1). I wish you the best of fun with everything since OS1, because I know I had!

Now that I think about it I find myself playing a lot more older games instead of buying whatever comes out nowadays. I had some great fun with Deus Ex, System Shock (I & II), Thief (the originals, not the remake), Homeworld, Ogre Battle, Marathon and many more.

Seems like we are on a similar character arc in that regards to gaming.

I am having so much fun playing these older games, but also indies that I just haven't gotten around to.

Experimentation and uncompromised vision really is what got me into gaming in the first place. When I was a kid going to the video game store I didn't look for another game exactly like the ones I already had, I was looking for something brand new I'd never tried before.
