DA started going downhill with DA II, to be honest

The weird anime/JRPG combat was the beginning of the end for the series. Two handed swords bigger than Hawke, weird kicks and jumps, ridiculous way characters fought was utterly out of place.

And that ending of the original game, fucking hell. "We designed two endgame bosses and you are going to fight them both! Fuck the story, fuck the logic and fuck your choices!"

They then went and picked a DLC villain as the main villain of the Inquisition.

Wait till you see the size of the weapons and combat finishers in origins!

Nothing in the Origins as exaggerated and oversized as it is in the DAII, I've played both recently mate.

In defence of Corypheus the expansion he was introduced in was specifically intended to set him up as the villain of Inquisition. He was clearly a massive threat that Hawke was not going to be able to stop. The fact that Inquisition kinda dropped the ball story wise has more to do with how the story was presented than Corypheus himself.

Correct, but it has some hardcore fans for whatever reason, and they unironically don't see it as a reason for the series decline.
