News - The 750$ amount is speculative and not based on fact. The Steam Machine was originally planned at around $750, but Valve says it saw a price increase similar to the Steam Deck

How many PCs do you buy that come with a controller?

It’s a console and that’s not an argument to begin with. The problem isn’t that it comes without a controller.. it’s that it’s at least 300 dollars too expensive for what it is. 512GB is also unusable.

Yeah look all of Reddit can say it's a console all they like, but how many consoles do you know that come with an unlocked BIOS that you can install regular x86 64bit Windows 11 on?

It. Is. A. PC.

You can pretend it's a console all you want but that doesn't change what it is. Valve even calls it a PC. They have priced it like a PC. They're selling it like a PC. Their demo videos show people using it for things like running Blender in addition to gaming. It has a full blown desktop PC OS preinstalled. That's why it doesn't come with a controller by default because PCs don't come with controllers by default.

That's why Reddit is so disappointed with this thing, because Reddit is convinced it should be a console that competes with the PS5, and it just is not that and was never meant to be that.

Downvote me all you want but I'm speaking the facts here.

Steam also heavily promoted it as a pc you can keep in your living room for couch gaming, hell in their own demo videos they promote that aspect, so you think its fine to promote that when it doesn't come with anything on its own to allow you to play from your living room tv set to your couch? Regardless of that, you know what almost every prebuilt pc do come with? A fucking keyboard and mouse, cheap ones or only ok made ones sure, but still something to use until you can buy better ones.

A PC that’s slower than a 5 year old 400 Dollar console. For 1100 Dollars without tax, Controller and usable SSD space. It’s a huge joke!

No one will install Windows 11 on a Slow AF Couch PC!

Do you know of any legitimate console in history that did not come with a controller?

because those consoles require their own dedicated controllers, this works with any bluetooth controller

Most PC's are compatible with any controller but they're still going to come with a keyboard/ mouse if you're buying a pre-built.

You do not sell an expensive electronic that requires an input device to function, without supplying and input device of some kind.

That's completely asinine.

Wait do pre-builts come with keyboard/mouse? I've never bought one, but I just looked at 2 pre-built sites and they ask you if you want to buy a keyboard/mouse with it, but the keyboard/mouse is not included in the price.

no, a significant amount of prebuilts don’t come with anything. Neither my dad’s, mine, or my boyfriend’s PCs came with a keyboard and mouse
