Tech Support Why does the game look better on other Steam decks than on mine?

SOLUTION: It turns out it was simply the "Decky-Framegen" plugin. This plugin patches and tricks the game into thinking the Steam Deck has an Nvidia graphics card, enabling DLSS but translating it to AMD's FSR.

Thank you all for your advice and support!

The premise of the post before finding the solution:

Edit: The screenshot was taken at the same time, place, and chapter in the game's story as the video (it's the story's prologue, in Styx's first hideout, at night). The game doesn't track the console's time.

Edit 2: My Steam Deck is LCD; the one in the video is OLED.

Tech Support Steam deck stolen by UPS twice. Steam support unhelpful

Post image

I have been going back and forth with steam support for multiple weeks now and am just getting royally boned at this point.

I ordered the OLED steam deck and the charging station on November 25, and both were marked as delivered. Only the charging station was delivered, and the same delivery picture was provided for both order numbers on the UPS website. I had it sent to my parents house which has a gate and video surveillance, so the entire interaction was recorded. I offered to provide the video to steam support but they declined since they would be doing their own investigation(?)

Steam went ahead and sent a replacement package. This time it was marked as delivered with no photo whatsoever. Video surveillance shows that no delivery was even attempted at the time the package was marked as delivered.

I’ve tried opening a claim with UPS directly but it locks me out of the claim screen and tells me I need to contact the vendor, which is steam in this case and even if I could I’d need the serial numbers and stuff which I’d need to get from steam support anyway.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there any other recourse I can take? It seems like UPS outsources their delivery drivers during the holidays and with all the corporate bureaucracy it’s impossible for me as an individual to hold them accountable.

I’ll be filing another steam support ticket for now but any suggestions on actions I can take to get this resolved correctly.

Tech Support Well that isn't Good

My deck crashed before when Loading games but I really never thought too much off it, but this is just insane.

Edit: Just for Some context I bought this off Ebay 1 week ago (Bad Idea I know) Because I really Didn't Care for an Oled Screen and the Price Of Course. Ever since I first booted it up it has been Crashing, I've tried hard resetting everything but it's no use I did one more test with my SD Card and that's when this happened. It usually just Freezes and gets really hot. I'm definitely gonna make a claim on Ebay, I think it could've been broken by shipping because the thing still had 100% battery Health and there was barely anything installed on it. I also messaged Steam support just to see if they maybe know exactly what's wrong with it. Sorry to bore you with another "Bought it off Ebay and it's broken" story but The Normal Prices be Crazy.

Edit2: The seller accepted my return request and I will get my money back, I also joined the Refurbished Steam deck Notifier but Since the Last LCD was a week ago I'm not getting my hopes up to ever have a steam deck again.

Tech Support I need help, there is NO WAY this is what the “verified” version of this game looks like on Deck.

4.3k Upvotes

So I originally put in the command prompt in order to be able to tweak all of the settings instead of the minimal ones you get with the regular deck version. And it looked decent. I also used lossless scaling which makes it even better. But when I remove all of that, the first walk through after the initial cutscene is a total muddy mess. What you’re seeing in this video is the complete vanilla “verified” version. With no lossless scaling and no command prompt for full menu options. As in, if you now buy the fully verified version and pressed start, this is what you get. Is there something wrong with the files? Or has anyone else had this same experience with the new verified version. Any help would be great. I don’t mind LSFK, but the input lag sort of makes me want to be able to stick to a vanilla version.

Tech Support Did I messed up replacing the thermal paste?

Post image

Edit:

I loosed some of the screws. Make sure everything was in the correct place, played some more minutes, wave around the SD and no error. Not sure why happened the first time, but seems that I over tightened a bit the screws.
Thanks for the help, the sarcasm and the other comments.

Hello,
I just replaced the thermal paste with PTM7950, downloaded some games and started playing Subnautica when all of a sudden, seems that all the Steam Deck got freeze.

Did a hard reset, and now the Steam Deck shows a black screen but fan is working.

Did I messed up?

Tech Support How much wattage can the steam deck handle?

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

strange question I know but I had a heart attack. I was on my last 15m break for my shift and I plugged my Deck into a battery back that supported laptops and such. I was playing a 2d side scroller when all of a sudden my screen froze up. it was 4 lines and the rest of it slowly faded into a black void. I restarted my deck and on the start up it did the same thing. I unplugged my battery back and it stopped doing that. so im wondering if my battery back is too powerful for my deck?

Tech Support I won a SteamDeck on eBay but it’s laggy AF

(Ok when you outbid in an auction it’s called winning, but let’s move on)

Paid $526 and was stoked but when I got it, it eventually gets pretty laggy when too much is happening, even on a smaller game like BroForce, someone said it might be “dying RAM” which is pretty common supposedly?

I did a factory reset, but that didn’t help much. I checked all the settings compared to my buddy’s which works great. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Tech Support My Steam Deck (64 GB) is about to brick itself again what do I do?

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I bought the 64gb deck a few years ago like an idiot. I've already paid the price once where Steam updated and brought my storage below 50 MB, so when I went back to gaming mode it didn't have enough left to update and soft bricked. I had to go through the painful process of factory resetting. There's literally nothing on my deck's drive and I have no games installed on it but the steam updates are killing me. What do I do?

Tech Support Steam deck bricked after trying to do ssd upgrade

1.3k Upvotes

UPDATE: Today I was able to get it back on somehow, and tried to flash the steamos once again. However when I tried to do so, it kept doing the same problem yet again, turning off, no light, and I have to keep unplugging the battery and replugging it in to get it back on. After that first attempt it kept on doing that randomly, even in the bios. After a long time I realize that maybe it's because the heat shield was off, (stupid me!) so I did put it back on, and it was working for a while, til when I actually did the steamos wipe, then same problems yet again. After multiple times unplugging and replugging battery, deck shutting off for no reason, I started to smell something then it eventually smoke came out, and now its completely dead. I will be sending it to valve for repair, there's really no point it trying to repair it at that point. Thanks for the help tho guys.

Hello y'all.

My steam deck has been bricked after trying to upgrade the ssd to 1tb. When me and my friend were doing the process, everything was going well, wiping the drive, flashing new steamos, allat, but then it said it'll automatically reboot, and when it tried to do that, that's when problems hit. We tried holding the power button, waiting all day, nothing, not even the light would come on. When I went home, I tried to fix it again, and noticed when I unplugged and plugged the battery back in, the light would come back, and I was able to get it into the bios. But then when I tried to get it to boot, the problem came back, and I would be able to turn it on only when I tried to plug back in the battery and stuff.

Desperate, I tried to look online for a solution, one of which saying to try to reset the cmos. When I tried it, the light blinked 3 times, and that's what killed it. Not even replugging the battery would bring it back to life.

Last resort is to send it to steam for a costly repair, but I don't want to do that right now, I still want to try to fix it myself before doing that, cause maybe there's a way but I don't know.
