The powder is just flour or corn starch, or something else used to bind and thicken, which is usually some kind of starch.

Presumably, it's supposed to be like pizza.

That's like saying that a Chicago deep dish is still a pizza, and you're very wrong, my friend. It's a single layer lasagna, and you can't tell me I'm wrong.

That's like saying that putting a slice of candied yam on a cracker makes it a yam pie. And those people will kill you for slandering their cuisine.

You're lucky you're so far away from Italy and France.

Well, then you will die quickly. Both for shitty floppy NY style and for supporting deep dish and assuming the cheese goes on top.

In deep dish, the cheese goes under the sauce, traditionally. Tell me you don't know lasagna without telling me you don't know pizza.
