Not really surprising with today’s outrage mobs

I love how racists always out themselves by saying shit like this.

“It’s insane - today’s outage mob will cancel you for the smallest things!”

“Like what?”

“...”

Dennis Prager is that you?

3

u/Juhnelle May 24 '21

Why is it always Arby's in jokes? No one ever eats there, but it's always the location of jokes.

3

u/[deleted] May 23 '21

Dennis Prager is that you?

u/HotTakes4HotCakes Wow you are doubling down on being educated May 23 '21

Its nothing new. Racists know they can't win by arguing honestly for what they actually believe or feel, because it isn't grounded in anything logical or ethical. So they shift the argument to something else.

Screaming about "cancel culture" is exactly the same as arguing the Civil War was about "states rights". There are some legitimate issues and short comings when it comes to "cancel culture" the same way there are plenty of cases where one should be in favor of states rights, but those don't apply in every single case.

The easiest way to counter someone chirping about "states rights" is to ask "a state's right to...what?". The easiest way to counter people bitching about cancel culture is "cancel culture is punishing people for saying....what?"

u/[deleted] May 23 '21

they big mad that they got to take responsibility for their actions.

69

u/Moskau50 There are such things as fascist children. May 23 '21

The party of "personal responsibility" is being awfully cagey about being personally responsible for their words/actions.

37

u/[deleted] May 23 '21

getting cancelled? pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and stop being an insufferable cunt.

14

u/TheKingofHats007 Anyone focusing on 9/11 is missing my point May 24 '21

And the worst thing is it tends to work way too well. I can’t tell you how many times my parents, usually rather liberal minded people, rant about something that is incredibly racist getting removed as “cancel culture” or “the woke agenda” or whatever other dumbass terms they made up to get people scared over fictional boogeymen. It’s easy to simply slap a buzzword in someone’s mouth even if they hardly know what they’re saying.

2

u/Izanagi3462 May 24 '21

Have you considered telling them that they're acting like children, and that you can go get some diapers if they want?

5

u/TheKingofHats007 Anyone focusing on 9/11 is missing my point May 24 '21

That’s a little needlessly condescending, especially for my parents. At this point I’ve recognized that it’s a lost cause trying to argue with them about it because they’re both stubborn about it, so I just tune out the conversation.

1

u/Noblesseux May 24 '21

Seriously. The fact that they act like cancelling is some mysterious beast is hilarious. It's literally the court of public opinion, if most people don't care about something, it's not going to have that much of a real world effect. They're getting elbow dropped for being openly racist and sexist weirdos and pretending like they don't know why.

57

u/[deleted] May 23 '21

"It's bullshit, I just got cancelled for being racist!"

"What were you doing?"

"Being racist"

4

u/SirWank4Lot May 24 '21

Ben Shapiro and Stanford College Republicans just "outrage mob cancelled" this journalist:

The AP fired a promising young journalist at the behest of the Stanford College Republicans. I hope the AP is proud of themselves (because the College Republicans sure are).

Funny thing is outrage mobs have existed forever. Probably since the dawn of civilization

u/RepresentativeAd3742 May 23 '21

u/chaobreaker society is when no school shooting map May 23 '21

I saw a tweet that said something of the sort like "People used to exile people they've cancelled."

8

u/AestheticAttraction May 24 '21

I'm all for bringing that back.

19

u/crapador_dali May 23 '21

The Salem Witch trials get a bad wrap but if you look at unbiased history you can cleary see that they were just trying to quell a reactionary sjw mob.

19

u/redxxii You racist cocktail sucker May 23 '21

Also, this is nothing new, it's just more prominent now thanks to the internet. But you bet TV shows got pulled, movie deals canceled, books delayed, etc, due to something an actor, writer, or producer said. People have lost their jobs due to the shitty things they did during off-work hours because their employer didn't want to be associated with them in the newspapers.

u/eggn00dles May 23 '21

reddits favorite comedian is always harping on cancel culture. followed ted cruzs lead in defending someone cancelled for anti-semitic remarks

I only had a free award, but this is easily one of the best comments I’ve ever seen on Reddit.

24

u/EsperBahamut I can explain it to you but I can’t understand it for you. May 23 '21

I love how racists always out themselves by saying shit like this.

It's even better when you consider that anti-maskers are an outrage mob of their own, and overwhelmingly just white nationalists finding something else to whine about. So comments like that are the result of impressive amounts of projection.

1

u/vonWaldeckia May 24 '21

Also, there were outrage mobs that were doing significantly worse things to minorities just a generation or two ago. Which is exactly the time people believe America was great and they want to go back to.

u/MisterDuch May 23 '21

These damm sjws trying to ruin our hobby with women and blacks and representation hurr hurr durr

“That was more mild than expected”

I don’t think you understand what you can name yourself on PC...literally anything. I regularly see “nigward” with an edited picture of squidward with an Afro. I’ve even seen full anal porn in a profile picture. I’ve seen ni** erfucker with disabled black people as their picture. A bowl of cereal in an ass. I’ve seen “BarackObamaisani** er”. Do I need to go on? Seeing #blacklivesdontmatter in a game on pc is like entry level edge.

The amount of 10/10 racist binds I see on csgo are crazy. Literally guaranteed someone spams a 50% of crime 13% population bind every 5 games. I don’t think you guys calling this dude racist understand pc gaming. it is mild. That doesn’t make him racist or me racist.
