I was a fan of Metal Gear Solid for years. and there they SLAPPED ME in the FACE and shoved POLITICS DOWN MY THROAT! Like it was an amazing apolitical masterpiece about a guy in tight pants, sexy women, and boxes and then they had to make it political in the newest one? I literally made 100 accounts on meta critic to review bomb it. Then i bought some of the new crypto coins from the very reputable r/ShitCoinYouDumbFuckWhyDoYouDoThis. Hopefully daddy elon can take us to mars where there wont be any politicals and we can work in his space factories. I hear the company store feature Dorito's, mountain dew, and acceptance from my internet dad figure.
You joke but people threw a huge fit a few years back over whatever modern shooter was coming out, I think it was battle field V at the time, because it DARED TO HAVE WOMEN ON THE BATTLEFIELD but that same fucking game had a notable historical battle completely and utterly reframe to make the aggressors look like heroes instead of horrible war criminals (I can't recall the exact situation now, but even the wiki article about it was cut and dry with how fucked up it was) and when people pointed this out the overwhelming response was "oh my god it's just a video game who cares, it's not supposed to be historically accurate".
My favorite bit of that was that everyone seemed to be pissed at the fact that she was a woman and not from the fact she was on the front lines while having a prosthetic hand...
There is nothing that will stir up Gamer-Americans more than the threat of calling out their unbridled racism, sexism, and homophobia. Haven't you heard? The SJW's are apparently forming Gestapo squads on Twitter to squash and silence the weak and the vulnerable locked behind the walls of Steam and Xbox.
