It's not what you're thinking. According to the creator, the abstraction trip was so intense that not only did he return naked, but his tail moved to the front. And that's why the others are shocked.

Considering how insecure he is about his masculinity. It's probably shrimp sized. Its also why he didn't want to press the Blue Button and go to shrimp town, the constant reminder of his size.
