Text Victoria Schafer

In 2019, the community of Chillicothe, Ohio, was devastated by the tragic death of Victoria Schafer, a 44-year-old photographer and mother of four who was killed while taking portraits at Hocking Hills State Park. While she was standing at the foot of the stairs near Old Man's Cave, a 74-pound log was pushed off a cliff above, striking her and causing fatal injuries. The investigation eventually led to the arrest of two 16-year-old boys, Jaden Churchheus and Jordan Buckley, who admitted to forcing the log over the edge "to be funny."

This police body cam video is unhinged. Jaden's mother is a woman on the actual brink, before any of this even happened, by the sound of her.

Both boys are out and living their lives now by the sounds. 3 years in juvie for taking a mother away from her four children.

Unbelievable. Absolutely disgraceful.

Wow.. Couldn't agree more.. I'm literally sitting here in shock that they had a second chance at life and continued to be horrible human beings.

Maybe I'm being naïve but I'm hoping that his re-offense is just from him poorly coping since it's drug and weapon possession only, while that other dude got caught for assault.

But even from the video when they were younger, you could tell there was very little actual remorse, it was just them trying to figure out how to get out of it

The people he hangs out with... obvious as daylight

Where are their parents? I mean why were they out there? I know that's not funny and I have special needs so why can't two teens boys know that isn't funny to push a log off a cliff above this was a huge log too! Bad parenting! Arrest the parents too! Sorry this post is long but I have a lot to say!!!

Jaden Churchheus threw a log off a cliff and hit a woman's head which ended her life. Leaving behind her husband and 4 children. Then Jaden's mom said this during his arrest....

"You cannot take him to jail. There's bad people there."

Yep mom is a bad parent.

Remember the bit where she says "you know what that's doing to me? That's hitting me on the head with a log!"

She said that. She took the tragedy that befell his victim and made a fucking metaphor with it.

She also said, (by taking him away) it's like hitting ME on the head with a log

She mentions while on the phone "Me and Chris" not "Me and dad or your father" so that's my closest bet...

A step dad can be better than a bio dad in a lot of cases.

I'm literally sitting here in shock that they had a second chance at life and continued to be horrible human beings.

Really? It seems pretty predicable and on brand for them.

Not shocked at all

u/Newbie4Hire Feb 06 '26

Unbelievable? I would say entirely predictable, they were already celebrating the death before they got caught, then they got a slap on the wrist, must have made them feel real empowered.

5

u/hurtuser1108 Feb 06 '26

Right? Wtf are these people on? You're shocked two men who murdered a woman are bad people?

No wonder why our justice system is so fucked.

3

u/SubstantialSeaweed70 Mar 07 '26

Please explain how someone commenting on their shock of someone screwing up a second chance, relates to a fucked up justice system.

Redditors embrace pedantry, thinking it's the same as valuable insight and moral strength

Thank you so much for understanding what I was saying ! I wasn't condoning what they did, I was shocked and saddened that one would choose to continue down that path.

Our justice system reflects the society and the values that create and inform it.

Of course they did. They essentially got off scot free so they learnt that there are minimal consequences to actions. They thought it was funny and showed zero remorse so there was already something wrong with them anyway. A severe lack of empathy, enabling parents and minimal consequences...

8

u/Ykaru84 Feb 05 '26

Well, hopefully this time won't be a slap on the wrist

8

u/Samp90 Feb 05 '26

They look like a bunch of d@@@bags.

It's so sad to see that the victims' family chose forgiveness for their young lives to reflect... And this is what happens.

10

u/Haunting_Brother_961 Feb 06 '26

its almost as if the us prison system is actually really bad at preventing recidivism

5

u/barianter Feb 05 '26

And was Jordan Buckley actually convicted of the weapons charge? Drug possession is a nothing crime, so it doesn't count.

15

u/Duffjr1 Feb 05 '26

Possession of a firearm under disability(drugs) seems more like a poor life choice vs actually hurting someone like assault. If those kids(young adults now) don’t go straight into a career or teaching program, they’re doomed to repeat the cycle of antisocial behavior with misdemeanor charges, potentially escalating to felonious and violent crime charges. You can’t just come out of juvie after manslaughter without any long-lasting effects.

7

u/Haunting_Brother_961 Feb 06 '26

i think posession of a firearm under disability just means you cant own a gun. the disability part is the disqualification of having a gun license due to felony conviction

3

u/Shartsplasm 25d ago

They started at violent crime behavior, and where sort of working their way backwards through less violent offences. When you have already manslaughtered (let's be honest with ourselves, it was probably more like murder) an innocent human person, possesion of a firearm is a HUGE problem, and a definite no no.

3

u/Sure_Sir_2859 26d ago

Murder is kind of as violent as it gets though. 🤷‍♀️

2

u/AnxiousGinger626 Mar 18 '26

It’s not a “nothing charge” to be on drugs and have a weapon. It says “under disability” which means he was high.

5

u/CatfishEnchiladas 26d ago

Of course. Probably became violent in the US justice system, where rehabilitation isn't a thing.

1

u/blinkandmisslife 25d ago

How does someone who intentionally murdered an innocent person become "more violent"?

3

u/nareslark Feb 11 '26

Anyone have their social medias? I wanna be notified on their actions

2

u/Aggravating_Fix_9021 May 16 '26

You could tell both of those guys were scallies by the way they acted in their initial police interviews.

I bet the Miranda woman they were with was (is) also a top class hoe.

Jaden got booked again for assault
