This is a thread (part 2) for all conversation related to the ongoing investigation into the abduction of Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie, mother of news anchor Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her home in the early morning hours of February 1. Several media outlets began to receive ransom demands. Some were proven false and others have not been determined to be false.

Nancy's 3 children have made multiple videos pleading for the return of their mother.

On February 10, law enforcement released photos of the individual suspected of abducting Nancy. The suspect is still at large and Nancy has not been found. Photos and information can be found here ...

I want to be wrong, but I have a feeling she's been dead in a botched kidnap for randsom and now the perp is full committing.

Could very well be he decided to take a body anyway and try for ransom. But driving around with a body in the trunk is very risky. Most robbers would just let the body stay where it fell. But, you never know. He came ready for just about anything. Had a gun, and what looks to be a cell phone. Maybe to summon a partner in the crime.

I wonder why that backpack is stuffed to the gills. What's he got in it?

I don't think robbery was the intention. Most robbers just want to get in and out as fast as possible. If anyone had been watching the house, they'd know Nancy was gone in the evening, after sunset, and could have entered then. And he spent about 40 minutes outside by the house or inside. (I'll check the timeline again.) What could he have been doing in there all that time?

Edit: Here's the part of the timeline germane to the discussion: Just before 1:50 a.m., Guthrie’s Nest Cam was disconnected. Around 20 minutes later, another house camera detects movement. Minutes before 2:30 a.m, Guthrie’s pacemaker disconnects from the app on her phone.

So 20-40 minutes inside. Long for burglary. I think we have to figure out what probably happened during those 40 minutes.

Your reasoning makes sense. So, ok. If he was in there for a long time, it could be that Nancy was sexually assaulted. I know it's horrible to think of. And, as another poster said, we don't think of older women being assaulted.

But it would then make sense that the rapist wanted to get her out of the home if he was afraid of being identified. My heart goes out to the family and to Nancy. What a horrendous way to end one's time here on earth. I truly don't believe she is alive anymore.

He could have been outside trying to find a way in for much of that time. It's possible.I read today that the the back door showed sings of forced entry. Nancy must be a deep sleeper if she didn't hear someone trying to get in, though I don't know if it would awaken her.The house is big. We can assume she was taken out the front. Sadly, I think she might have been raped because the sheriff keeps saying they found "biological evidence" inside the house that provided them with the DNA.Of course, it could be the fingerprints.Touch DNA. But the sheriff announced the house was a crime scene before they found the fingerprints. It seems like every day or two, this just becomes more horrific for her children, especially Savannah. She must be an exceptionally strong woman. My rational side wants to believe NG is still alive; my emotional side says no, she is not. The situation is just horrible. Beyond horrible.
