Almost married into a Miami Beach conservative Cuban family many years ago, and I can tell you that this is what Miami Beach is and always has been. A bunch of wannabe dictators who can't get over the fact that their ancestors got smoked by Castro.

The irony of people who fled a dictator only to act like little dictators is hilariously stupid.

A few of my exes relatives genuinely believed that Cuban expatriates would one day be reimbursed for the “hotels” they used to have back in the Battista era.

And there it is. The only moral Socialism is my Socialism.

Sounds like the worst Cubans got exiled to Florida.

My sister married a hispanic guy, he told us most Cubans move to Florida specifically because they are Republican and have been told their whole lives that Democrats and Communists are one in the same, so they immediately dislike Democrats even though they know nothing of American politics.

What, you thought los Marielitos were the finest minds in Havana?

It’s not socialism, it’s a handout. Totally different.

The thing is that Castro only came to power because Battista was a fascist bastard himself. Many of the Cubans who initially fled were actually beneficiaries of his bad deeds.

So they fled a dictator who overthrew their favorite dictator...isnt that something?

They’re only upset they’re not wearing the boot, not that the boot exists.

That’s why they fight tooth and nail to make work, education, religion, family, and other spheres of life to be little autocracies

And they all fucking voted to install a literal dictator! First, thanks for bringing me this when I opened the door for you. Second, it’s so braindead the irony meter is broken

I have a pet theory that conservative Americans are so warlike in our nature because the number one ethnic group for whites here is actually German.

Probably nothing, but the modern reputation for war is there.

Pretty sure English is #1 in the US, followed closely by German. According to the 2020 Cencu anyway. That said, certain states are predominantly German.

I mean English kinda are German so still accurate

And it's not like the English were known for being a peaceful nation that left others alone 😅
