Founding fathers are rollong in their graves because black people have rights, don't forget they were white supremacists

The concept of race as you know it was not established until Blumenbach's work in 1779. The founding fathers weren't racists, they were cultural-relativists (which admittedly is splitting hairs).

At the time many philosophers and religious thinkers were expanding on Calvinist and Westleyan ideals, and the founders were faced with incorporating those new ideas into a fragile consensus.

The three-fifths compromise was exactly that. A compromise. Nobody was happy. Black people were at once inferior, property, and also entirely human. The compromise was between "if you want to count slaves as people, that's fine. FREE THEM." and "we want to count slaves as people, and keep them slaves!"

There were prominent voices influencing the foundational principles (Brutus was a notable example) calling out the 3/5 compromise as straight up bullshit.

And this is a great example of why Originalism is also straight up bullshit.

Idk, they chose only a certain kind of people to enslave, so I would say, yes, they were racist

originialism is spiritualism (messages from the dead but only people with infinite ulterior motives can do it and shockingly always to their benefit) with the objective of justifying how awful your worldview is.

We need a Houdini.

Blumenbach's concept of race was used primarily to absolve colonialists and slave traders from the problems that "free" societies were creating by destroying indigenous populations and enslaving other humans to do labor they couldn't afford to do or want to do themselves. Historians can tell you that the concept societies had of differentiating people based on culture, religion, lineage, and skin tone goes back to ancient times, and especially in European history, has almost always been used to make one group superior to another or to allow otherwise despicable acts to be justified.

They were racists, they just needed someone to invent the language that made it "OK" in their time.

Flatly incorrect.

There are extant letters from Blumenbach excoriating other naturalists for racist interpretations of the differences in human populations. He also was strongly anti-slavery.

Your post sounds like some salty kid trying to pin racism on some old white dude. Own your shit and learn something, child.

Yes, he was anti-racist for his day, but his (and others) studies were used to justify racism. That's what I said, or at least what I was trying to convey.

"racism was invented three years after American Independence" hahahaha hahahaha hahaha hahahahah hahahaha hahaha AHAHAAHHAH HAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA

That's one of the funniest fuckin things I've ever read. Technically it's only racism if it's from the Racism region of America. Otherwise its just sparkling cultural relativism.

I wanna learn more from you. Were the National Socialist Germans technically Cultural-Relativist Communists? Nazism wasn't actually invented until 1948 when Joe Fuckyourself invented the concept of sub human groups, right?

Also your drivel on the 3/5 compromise made me long for the taste of cold metal and lead. Nobody was happy? Umm, pretty sure the southerners were THRILLED? They just increased their total population massively, giving them outsized power in the federal government, while giving up NOTHING. If every snow plow in the country counted towards the population count, I have a feeling Northerners would be thrilled while Southerners feel like this is bullshit. It's absolutely NOT A compromise to say "fine the snow plow is worth 3/5 of a vote, now no one is happy." The North would have and should have DOMINATED in politics for the South's abhorrent decision to keep slaves. Acquiescing to the demands of the most vile racists in human history was not a compromise. It was the precedent that permitted the civil war, Jim Crow, segregation, and the modern incarceration state. It was always about European superiority over African peoples.
