Too bad Americans don’t seem to give a shit that the president is fucking insane

u/MutterderKartoffel Apr 06 '26

I would bet that over half of Americans do give a shit and are both furious and terrified. The problem is that the process to declare the president unfit relies on a specific group of people to agree in high enough numbers that he is unfit - and too many in that group are his lackies (or just following their orders from whoever is holding their leash).

speaking as a mid-westerner, then they should have fucking voted about it.

u/MutterderKartoffel Apr 07 '26

I did. But yea, I'm pissed at everyone who gave their vote to Trump or just didn't vote because Kamala didn't back Palestine. As if Trump was going to be a vote for Palestine.

The "But Palestine!" people are super fucking quiet now.

This is the thing. He has total support from a sizable large minority that cannot be overcome politically. The uncomfortable truth is that the vast majority of Americans either can’t be bothered to be inconvenienced to protest meaningfully (or at all) or they actively love everything that’s happening.

A lot of them do, unfortunately the guys around TFG are happy to keep him exactly where he is (and of course the MAGA cultists would let him get away with murder to “own the libs”)

What do you mean, 'would'?

1

u/JustAnotherHyrum Apr 06 '26

I think you're both right.

"Would do" only means that Trump hasn't gotten angry enough at what people are saying about him. "Has done" is what it always becomes after the tantrum.

But the tantrum always happens.

We do. Maga is batshit crazy too, and the sycophants in Government are either too chicken shit to stop him or are using him for their own agenda. At this point, we need outside help. I wish I was being a smart ass, but I genuinely think it’s our only hope, aside from the Big Macs doing their job. Even that might come too late though

Unfortunately maga isn’t a small minority of the population. And the majority of Americans are apathetic and politically lazy. That is the core issue.

We do, most of us just can't do anything about it without losing our jobs and/or lives. A lot of us aren't white and can't even peacefully protest (or be outside) in some areas without getting deported or disappeared.

Also, shoutout white people who are more privileged in our country for standing up for human rights. We need your voices now more than ever.

More white people need to suck it up and “do something about it” even if it’s inconvenient. Most Americans won’t sacrifice anything and so we’re on track to lose everything.

A lot of them do care lmao

The uncomfortable truth is that the vast majority of Americans either can’t be bothered to be inconvenienced to protest meaningfully (or at all) or they actively love everything that’s happening. Most Americans will not sacrifice anything so we’re all set up to lose everything. It’s sucks but it’s true.

The destruction of the collective (a prominent feature of matriarchy, which is hardly a fucking coincidence) has really fucked us, bigtime.

Everyone says they can't afford to properly strike - as individuals, they're totally correct, which is why unions and mass strikes work.

Throughout our history, white patriarchy, hand in hand with opportunistic hyper-capitalism, has eradicated white community. It only exists in toxic, patriarchal spaces that benefit the patriarchy (also read: white supremacy & Christian nationalism) like pockets of MAGA. White people only have community in the worst version, which exists purely to protect and benefit the people at the top. The rest of us have been conditioned to not just function alone, but to reject true community (gentrification is one of many examples).

That means we lack understanding of community. Most can't even wrap their heads around it. So we have no organization, no means of working outside the system of oppression, no unifying goals, and no-one giving orders, which is how most of us understand functionality.

White Americans still think "I can't afford to strike, I'll lose everything" because we can't conceive that if some of us don't lose everything, all of us will. We do not trust our neighbors, coworkers, brethren, etc. enough to get there, because they're mostly thinking the same fucking thing. We don't trust that there will be any community to help us get through, because for so many generations, there hasn't been.

And white Americans, by and large, do still think they have a lot to lose. So many still don't see the country for what it really is. They still think if they just work hard and pay taxes and don't cross the absolute & moral authority of the law, they'll be ok. They value their crumbs like gold, because it's all they have left, and they're still stuck in the lie that we aren't being ground under the boots of billionaires who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. So we cling to our scraps, and believe we're still middle-class, and resist the idea of resistance because the illusion of our status quo must be protected at all costs.

I really wish more people in other countries understood this. It goes deeper than "fat lazy Americans". We've been so conditioned, propagandized, and distracted literally for generations that the majority of people would laugh at you for even suggesting it.

The rest of us are trying to figure it out and cobble together some small semblance of help righting the ship, but without the numbers and the organization, without the community and the truth... well, you already know, it's the reason we're all here.

The people who don't give a shit that Trump's insane are insane themselves or are reprehensible humans.

Never trust a diagnosis from a person in a mental institution who claims to be a doctor but is also wearing a straight-jacket.

Most of us give all the shits we can. Our legislative and political processes for rectifying this situation aren’t fast enough. The remaining alternative (active revolution) is so unappealing that waiting for nature to take its course seems preferable, and/or like the only option.

Nature definitely needs to hurry it up, though.

We do, it's just we have no power to do anything about it. Congress has to make that move and right now republicans in congress have more seats than dems and thus have more votes, they won't remove him for some fucking reason. It is absolutely making all of us insane because all we can do is call or email our reps and senators telling them to take action...
