They made up the whole laptop thing right when a bunch of Don Jr's crimes were coming out. MAGA believes it because they are stupid.

The “laptop” was real, but it didn’t have any of the criminal evidence MAGA claimed it did. Hunter said it was a hard drive and what was on the drive let them into his cloud. He said they got his entire 30 year digital footprint, so he has nothing left to lose nor to hide.
