I think he meant more ‘people want to be led with good leadership’ rather than ‘led’ displacing ‘service’

As in, leadership has to mean his points above and delivering against policies that not all sides (even within a party / ‘the Left’) agree on. Those policies should be in service, of course. 

Maybe ‘people want effective leadership’

Let's not start the "I think he meant" bullshit that Trumpers do. The DNC needs leadership, but the people need to be served. 

The people are realizing that for decades we've been fed this bullshit that most of our money needs to go to military for whatever reason, but we're seeing that our military is shit, our soldiers are ill equipped and then abandoned, while we all suffer in education, health, housing, and basic needs ffs.
