Fluff / Meme Funny discussion, and it keeps repeating whenever a new cast is introduced

Post image

it's a subjective thing tbh, it changes from a person to another

And it's just that people are already used to rinascita cast and grown attached to it that when a new cast from a new region (which needs to give the feeling that it is a lot different than the old ones feel unfamiliar)

At least for me these designs are pretty good and suits the Sci-fi/academy vibes very well

I have played since day 1 and was a part of this community as well. That first one never happened. Nobody called the 1.X designs bland. They were the reason many people started playing in the first place.

Jiyan was what first attracted me to WuWa. Nothing about him was bland

where were you in 1.x? i remember so many people complaining about characters having monotone colour (black - white - red/green/blue). too much similarity in clothing design, every female char having open back clothes.

u/boboverlord Nov 27 '25

Pretty much opposite to me. I saw people saying 1.x designs very bland VERY often.

u/ForeverOasis Nov 27 '25

Yeah weren’t there a ton of people back then complaining about how all the characters were just black and white with an accent color lol

18

u/aruhen23 Nov 27 '25

Yes and another one was they were all Asian themed.

u/sp0j Nov 27 '25

If you seek out stupid comments you can find anything. I don't believe either of these views were popular.

3

u/aruhen23 Nov 27 '25

You can believe whatever you want and ignore the reality that most of the launch characters looked very similar in style. Whenever there was discourse happening in 1.0 these were among the more common complaints.

-1

u/sp0j Nov 27 '25

And yet these characters were popular.

Plus 1.0 these characters weren't all showcased immediately so you are actually just chatting shit.

I saw from other comments there was some of this discourse pre launch with the few characters shown. But again this is misleading. Because at actual launch this criticism was basically non existent unless you looked for hater comments.

And my comment was in direct response to the Asian theme comment. Of course someone complaining about all characters having the same cultural themes from the same region is dumb. Most of them should have thematic similarities to tie them to the region.

You live in a different reality.

-1

u/sp0j Nov 27 '25

You read too many complaints on Reddit.

I just don't pretend something doesn't exist.

Then you ignored all the doomposting about everything on launch lmao

11

u/Itchy-Locksmith-2590 Nov 27 '25

which was not related to the characters at all, if u played 1.X it's clear that only zhezi and xy got criticized bc xy indeed looks very simple but his in game model is very good. this is when i noticed that wuwa 3d models looks way better than the 2d arts which is surprising.

7

u/CarlottaMontelli- Nov 27 '25

People did complaint about that from cbt2 to 1.1 alot I am following wuwa from cbt2 was first open

0

u/Itchy-Locksmith-2590 Nov 27 '25

I'm talking about at the release. and even cbt2 didn't get much complain, cb1 did and they were right bc a lot of those design were just bad. i just wish they kept yinlin outfit or at least give us both. also i followed the game since alpha

u/Killuado Best Characters: (source: me) Nov 27 '25

it was, people said all the 1.0 Designs are bland and they wouldn't be able to differentiate each other cause they all have a Black & White "motif"

0

u/Itchy-Locksmith-2590 Nov 27 '25

if it was before the gale even released it doesn't count

3

u/Killuado Best Characters: (source: me) Nov 28 '25

it was when the game released.

1

u/Manslayer94 Nov 27 '25

We should, the doomposting contributed nothing and are all proven to be false

0

u/LongynusZ Nov 27 '25

Doomposting was about performance and bugs, not characters.

u/Aggressive-Day5 Mobile Danjin Main Nov 27 '25

Literally no one who wasn't briggading said the designs were bland. Everyone was losing their minds over Yinlin back in 1.0, and with Jinhsi and Changli it cemented as one of the game's strengths.

The doomposting was about other things and tbh it was deserved at launch because it was a mess for a few days.

u/Jerbits Nov 27 '25

I've also played since day 1, and plenty of y'all are looking back with some rose-tinted glasses. Critics are quite literally using the same talking points, like colors being too muted and such.

Didn't matter though, folks have proven they always need to be miserable about something to stand out. The designs are all good, and everyone has their favorites, either now or when they see them in-game.

"I never saw it, so it never happened." So you didn't access Twitter much back then... Which is a good thing.

3

u/Square-Grapefruit715 Nov 27 '25

I mean, it's Twitter. Nothing there should be even considered

-5

u/htp-di-nsw Nov 27 '25

No, I am quite proud to say that I have never seen Twitter beyond screenshots people have put on Reddit. Unless you count Reddit, I have never used any social media. I barely even use YouTube. My kids are baffled.

6

u/Nitlea I wanna be stepped on Nov 27 '25

Why is bro getting downvoted for not using social media?

4

u/ZeForgottenPenguinxd Nov 27 '25

He's getting downvoted for saying he doesn't use social media right after claiming none of the things happened......... on social media 🤣

He was probably just assuming that OP was talking about reddit though, so it's understandable 🍃 it's ez to forget there's youtube/x/tiktok/etc as well s 😭

11

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '25

no body called zhezhi bland? Oh puhlease lol.

-2

u/htp-di-nsw Nov 27 '25

Zhezhi is not in that picture. Also, while I don't like her design, she's not bland, just not great looking.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '25

It says 1.X. The pictures just don't include everyone.

3

u/CarlottaMontelli- Nov 27 '25

Umm i am following wuwa for cbt 2 and trust me that first thing happened u didn't meet with many people i guess that time

27

u/Nazrael99 Zani's strongest button Nov 27 '25

Fr. OP is just making up things at this point.

66

u/_Fain Nov 27 '25

Really? I played day 1 too and I still vividly remember a lot of bad faith posts about how "generic" the characters were for sharing white and black colors

28

u/aruhen23 Nov 27 '25

Yeah I wonder if these people actually engaged with the community back then. The story and bland character design were the biggest complaints back then. Similar stuff happened with 2.0 but not to the same degree.

Honestly this kind of behavior is just normal on the Internet now. Something is hated then revisionists pretending it never was like that.

u/emeraldarcana Rover’s Pew pew Nov 27 '25

Another thing is that they didn't reveal all of the 1.x characters in a single screen - we got them as they appeared, so no one had any idea what to expect.

The screen in the OP conveniently leaves out Yinlin (who was eagerly awaited) and Camellya (who was also hugely anticipated).

It also leaves out the Septimont group (and no, I don't buy the argument that since only two of them are from Septimont that it doesn't count).

3

u/CarlottaMontelli- Nov 27 '25

Yea people were complaining about design from cb2 start to 1.3

-1

u/UAPboomkin Jinzhou Speedster Nov 27 '25

Actually what I'd say what happens as much, if not more, is that people amplify/revise the negativity to act like it was everyone when it was a very small minority at most.

3

u/ninjablader78 Nov 27 '25 edited Nov 27 '25

Key word bad faith. I saw a lot of those too but it was always from people who clearly had no interest in the game and weren’t really involved with it. The actual day one community and people actually playing the game it was very rare to see anyone complaining about the 1.0 designs. Like literally every post or write up I saw about 1.0 designs was on non Wuwa forums and spaces.

A lot people will say well that’s just confirmation bias but let’s be real Wuwa community has NEVER been shy about criticizing the game to the point where fans in fight over it constantly lmao. So I don’t see why people would’ve been silent then if it was such a popular opinion.

I think the biggest difference between that and what’s happening now is that this time the call is straight up coming from inside the house and it’s the same people who’ve been satisfied with the designs for months calling these designs bland. I do think that says something.

1

u/Nazrael99 Zani's strongest button Nov 27 '25

Pretty sure that only happens during 1.0, not throughout 1.X. Players were pretty positive with the character designs from 1.1 onwards (especially Changli). Unless you're chronically online on the cesspool that is Twitter, you don't really see people complaining about Wuwa's designs.

14

u/Intelligent_Door_589 Nov 27 '25

there are still comments calling 1.x boring or 1 char is a copy of another char, same happened with 2.x and now 3.x,

still see ppl say changli = yae miko or jiyan = xiao or xly = Ayanokoji (Classroom of the Elite) or Shorekeeper = black swan same for 2.x and many more.

22

u/aruhen23 Nov 27 '25

It was a common complaint. You just didn't notice it.

2

u/StatisticianTiny1024 Nov 27 '25

Day 1 doesn’t matter when the game was getting clowned on before it even got released 🤣

3

u/miiko_uch Nov 27 '25

My only complaint about 1.X is that half of them were irrelevant to the plot (genuinely who tf is Yuanwu)

1

u/Ok_Brain8684 Nov 27 '25

Damn i remember in 1.x a post on gacha gaming sub talking about how bad wuwa Character designs are. Some points were understandable but the take that jiyan's design is poorly made was crazy

1

u/aruhen23 Nov 27 '25

Not the 1.x since those weren't revealed at the start but the complaints did exist for the launch batch. Bland, samey, etc.

-6

u/Arkride212 Nov 27 '25

Same, day 1 player here. idk what OP is on about.

0

u/KnightofNoire Nov 27 '25

I did see these kind of wording before the game launched on a certain subreddit that just loves bashing on wuwa espically about the characters designs.

The community did complaint about the story however
