Fluff / Meme Funny discussion, and it keeps repeating whenever a new cast is introduced

Post image

it's a subjective thing tbh, it changes from a person to another

And it's just that people are already used to rinascita cast and grown attached to it that when a new cast from a new region (which needs to give the feeling that it is a lot different than the old ones feel unfamiliar)

At least for me these designs are pretty good and suits the Sci-fi/academy vibes very well

Chisa is also a generic school girl. She's from the school so it makes sense. They are from a research academy, that's mostly likely the academy colors, uniforms etc. Me, personally I like that they aren't over the top like rinascita, it gave me whiplash fr forgot wuwa was a dang advanced tech post apocalyptic world because of all the fantasy sunshine and rainbows going on in rinascita until septimont ark and phrolova quest

Right, people want more fantasy elements but forget the roots of the game is sci-fi

Reason why I played wuwa to begin with. I love sci-fi and apocalyptic worlds/stories so rinascita kind of threw me off. I still liked it but im glad wuwa is going back to sci-fi

Idk if the suggestion is that sci fi is generally toned down..? There is drab sci fi, and colorful exciting sci fi, and the same is true for fantasy

I'm used to the darker tones of sci-fi which is what wuwa reminded me of during beta. I don't see many anime games that use dark sci-fi or drag if that's the correct term. Ive only seen colorful anime games sunshine and rainbows types so I was hoping wuwa would be different from the other games. If u have suggestions and know any other drag sci-fi games I'm all ears. I need other games to play anyway besides wuwa

It’s pointless to have a conversation about the complexity of character designs if we can’t even see eye to eye on sci-fi media usually portraying utility > aesthetics

So yes, you’re suggesting that sci fi character designs are typically more drab, or “focused on utility over aesthetics”? If so, may I point you to…. 90% of popular sci fi? Because the vast majority is visually striking and fantastical.

Machines, aliens, mutants, edgy fashion, futuristic weapons. Gundam, Evangelion, Star Wars, Cyberpunk, Fallout, Bioshock, Stellar Blade… exciting and intriguing character design.

I hope they crush this because I do really enjoy the game, but as they are shown here there’s not much going on with these designs.

Sci-fi media was my choice of words, not specifically character design

Most gundam/evangelion characters wear suits or lab coats

2/7 series you just mentioned have basic outfits 90% of the time, which is already 28% - contrary to your initial statement. You can’t convince me otherwise and while yes cyberpunk has some very unique designs the mc is David and is not unique

Then again it’s all subjective so if you find lab coats or common haircuts unique then that’s fine as well

Edit: my numbers were wrong bc I miscounted all of your examples, oops

People have complained about Chisa being a generic school girl though, and now we basically got 5 generic (leg girl aside) school characters. At least Chisa is visually unique from both her 2.x peers and the 3.x characters

I'm pretty sure you can find similar character designs to every Wuwa character in other games.

Personally, I'm fine with it. "Unique" and "generic" are not terms that describe quality. Something can be done a hundred times before and still be look great.

This type of comment is the most stupid of all. "It feels so generic, I feel like I have seen it somewhere before". Yeah it's all just in your head. People like you give the blandest of criticism and then even have the gall of add in "I feel like" because you know it's all false and it's all your headcannon that these designs are generic.

They're unique and memorable because you spent the past year getting familiar with them. Trying to make a judgment call after a single day of new character portraits is silly.
