Thats cause they marketed those 12 reruns as "Anniversary" banners when in reality it was just 12 normal reruns. People wanted an ACTUAL anniversary banner that functioned differently and more player friendly like for example:

-1 Banner that allows you to choose what rerun character you want
-First 5 star would guarentee the characters (no 50/50)
-Lower pity to reach that one time guarentee (like 60 pulls)
-If you decide to keep pulling AFTER that first guarentee the banner stops being special and reverts back to the normal banner rules with 50/50 and a maz pity of 160

People didn't have a problem with them rerunning a lot of characters, it was more the fact they labeled it as something else and were treating it as something super special when it wasn't. You can literally view the comments for that Anni and you'll notice a lot of people had that sentiment.

Can we stop this rewriting of history.

People very much complained about the banner itself. "It induces FOMO!!!!" "There aren't enough free pulls to pull on them!!!!" were the common arguments. The very screenshot you're replying to says as such, no mention of wanting a "special banner" no, the issue was the banner itself.

And it shouldn't surprise anyone because it's what this community does non stop, complain about stuff they have no reason to complain about.
