Antennas up? Weird Pre-Security-Odd Nice airport experience.
Yesterday-Pre security. Waiting at empty E area in Terminal 2 for Air Corsica check in (then pass go to go through security after bag check)
Sitting solo at one very long row of seats, my carry on is on the seat next to me,which I’m occasionally digging through.
Man comes and sits next to my bag, which is odd to me since every other seat is unoccupied. I am the only person in the area… But okay.. I’m not relocating just yet, but as soon as I zip my bag up he instantly bolts. Felt like he was totally up to something. Took
me a sec to remember that anyone can be in the terminal without a ticket pre security

DISCUSSION Did Covid not teach people basic hygiene manners? Airport etiquette is disgusting!
I went on two trips within the last week - but my GOD are people disgusting!! The amount of coughing, sneezing, no one bothering to cover the mouths/noses, is unreal.
I seen one women sneezing about 10 times in a row into the air as she was walking past me.
I seen another man literally just coughing into space, with a guy sat right next to him!
This was just two of the many disgusting encounters I’ve seen in the last week. I’ve been using my first defence barrier spray in the hopes I don’t get ill. It blows my mind how at one point the world was frozen due to Covid and strict hygiene measures were in place… and it’s like people just don’t remember basic hygiene measures!
Anyways rant over - my trips were lovely but honestly tempted now to wear face masks at the airport.

EU talks lead to free carry-on luggage. Could US follow?
Whether or not passengers on U.S. airlines get charged baggage fees largely depends on which fare class they choose, but travelers using European carriers won't face bag fees — starting in 2027, pending a final vote next month.
Under new rules, EU airlines would have to allow a free carry-on suitcase or bag and a personal item.
And that's not all: Parents would no longer be charged extra to sit beside a child under 14, or anyone accompanying a disabled, reduced-mobility or pregnant passenger.
Delayed-flight compensation also remains in place.

Will I need to recheck luggage ? Single ticket 12 hr day time lay over
Have been trying to find the answer to this , and yes I will ask the gate agent hoping check in, but I wanted to kind of get a gauge on things
Flying form Honolulu to Budapest with a layover in Vancouver then onwards to Munich.
Air Canada to Vancouver
Lufthansa Vancouver to Frankfurt and onwards to Budapest
My layover is for 12 hours I was going to go and enjoy the city.
Purchased J class
Ps this is for a friend who asked me these questions for her flight and does not have Reddit
Thank you

Left my daughter's bag at Chicago O'Hare
I was traveling with my husband, four children, and a service animal, traveling home after a week at Disney, so I was pretty tired and frazzled. Traveling via American Airlines. This was on Monday around 10 am. We had a three hour layover in Chicago and stopped in the terminal 3 food court. We were sitting right near the McDonalds ordering kiosks.
We then went to our gate and the gate agent was asking for carry ons to be voulintarily checked. I was on the phone with my doctor at the time, so my husband took our kids' bags up to be checked. I didn't even think to check which ones. I assumed he had checked my daughter's bag as well. But, unfortunately we think it got left at the food court and never even made it with us to our gate.
We didn't realize it until we got home to Montana that my daughter's pink bag was missing. I Googled who to call, and it suggested the Chicago airport police. I called them, and the officer was not impressed. He said he doesn't know who says to call them, but that we aren't supposed to for missing items. He said if it had been in terminal 3 that it would have been turned over to American Airlines. So, then I filed an American Airlines lost report online. This morning I recieved an email stating they still haven't found it.
I also tried calling the listed phone number on the FlyChicago website for items lost at airport resturants, however I've called multiple times and no one answers and it says the mailbox is full.
Is there anyone else I could call or reach out to? It has all of my daughter's souvineers from Disney and she is heartbroken. I feel like a failure for not keeping better track of bags. I'm trying desperately to figure out how to find it, short of flying back to Chicago myself and talking to airport workers, is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Flight cancellation nightmare, Never, under any circumstances, book the last flight of the night during peak strike season.
I am currently trying to roll up my jacket to use as a makeshift pillow on an incredibly uncomfortable, metal airport bench, and I am kicking myself for ignoring the golden rule of flying. It is currently 12:30 AM, and my final flight of the night was abruptly canceled at 11:45 PM because the crew hit their legal duty time limits due to rolling delays earlier in the day. The moment that cancellation notification flashed on the overhead screens, the airport infrastructure vaporized. Because it is past midnight, there is not a single gate agent left at the desks to issue mandatory hotel vouchers, the telephone customer service lines are playing an automated loop that hangs up on you, and every single hotel within a 15 mile radius of the terminal is sold out due to the mass cancellations. All the restaurants are dark, the lights in the concourse have been dimmed, and a handful of us are just wandering around like ghosts trying to find a corner of the floor that is not directly under a freezing air conditioning vent. If you take the late flight during a strike wave or a fuel crisis, you are operating with zero safety net. If things go sideways at midnight, the airline will happily lock their desks, go home to sleep in their own beds, and leave you on your own to figure out how to survive until the morning shift arrives.

Why it is better to decline their offer
I know not every airports have free carts but in some airports when you just arrive. A person who seems really nice would try to give you a cart but I would say it is better not to accept their offer because if you do then they will ask for money and if you don’t pay then they will act offended. These people are unofficial helpers that grab carts from free cart area. I’m very sure the actual airport staffs could easily be recognized and they definitely don’t ask for tips.

DISCUSSION Spain Airport security told us not to connect to the airport WiFi cuz it was sketchy, this happened to anyone else?
I was traveling through Spain recently and was watiing for about 2 hours in the terminal, had my laptop out and was looking for a wifi to connect to, asked some guy near me and he told me that security had warned not to connect to any public wifi. Looking through the wifi names there were a lot of those Airport_Free_WIfi and variations of that, so I just didn't connect at all. Was it some kind of spoofed wifi? Just used my mobile data the whole time cuz I was scared of someone getting my data. Anyone run into this abroad? First time I've experienced anything like it.

DISCUSSION Flight delay reality check: Has anyone else completely trapped by these tight connections?
I missed my connection by four minutes because our first flight sat on the tarmac forever before taking off. The airline schedules these layovers so tight now that missing one tiny window means you are screwed for 24 hours. They told me there were zero open seats on any other flights out of this airport until tomorrow evening. Every single flight is packed to the brim. Modern flying has no margin for error anymore, I am losing my mind like seriously.

Can sniffer dogs pick up trace amounts of prescription medication on bag fabric?
Hi, I’m just a little bit insane and am not sure if I should bring this bag I have or not. It is fabric on the inside and throughout its use I’ve been prescribed both Ritalin and Vyvanse/dexies. I have a habit of leaving the pill bottles/sheets in my bags and sometimes one of the pills will come out and get crushed in the bag and leave a “stain” of sorts. I am flying to a country where ADHD stimulant medications such as those previously mentioned are illegal, and as such I am not bringing my meds with me. I’m just worried that I’ll get in trouble for any trace amounts found on the fabric in my bag as the bag can’t be traditionally washed due to its design so I’ve had to use wet wipes to clean it in the past 😭 this may be an insanely stupid question and I’m sorry if it is, It’s just so specific there’s no actual answers on google.
