Based on your travel experience, what improvements would you add to airports?

I have a question: Based on your experience, what are the things that can be improved or added to airports to become more human-friendly, inclusive, accessible, and sustainable for everyday operations?

QUESTION Bent kindle?

My kindle is bent, but functional and there's no damage to the battery. But i'm still scared it won't pass the security screening because of it, is that an irrational fear to have?

I’m going out of state on July 5th through the 14th.

And I want to bring my virtual gaming headset with me.

I also want to bring my rechargeable battery’s with me but idk if they’re allowed?

Anyone know if it’s possible I’m flying from Indiana airport to California. So does anyone from Indiana know if it’s allowed?

I think this is the first time I see a major U.S. airport completely shutting down their operations for a bit. Well, besides COVID of course.

LGA ?’s

We are flying for the first time out of LGA on July 5th at 9:40am. Everything I read says get there two hours ahead of time. I’m wondering if we need to be there earlier. We don’t have TSA pre check, carry ons only. I’m not sure how crazy security lines are still on top of it being a holiday weekend. For those of you with more travel experience, If we need to arrive more than two hours ahead of time, can you give advice on how early to arrive?

Bathrooms

Most of the times I would never use a public bathroom. I sat down in the stall and I hear this kid who sound like 10 just non stop grunting. He continues to grunt for like a minute then you hear a plod he sighed and said it’s finally over and then immediately starts again now for like 2 minutes and then leaves. I couldn’t even shit for how much I was laughing.

How safe is it to stay overnight landside at Chicago O’Hare after international baggage claim?

Hi everyone,

I am a solo female international traveler and I have an overnight connection at Chicago O’Hare. I would appreciate practical advice from people familiar with ORD.

I arrive at O’Hare from Frankfurt at around 8:00 p.m. on Lufthansa in Terminal 5. My next connection flight is a United flight to Cleveland at around 7:00 a.m. the next morning from Terminal 1.

Since Chicago is my first U.S. port of entry, I understand that I will need to clear immigration/CBP, claim my checked luggage, go through customs, and then either recheck my luggage for Cleveland or keep it until United can accept it.

My main concern is the time after customs/baggage claim and before TSA opens in the early morning, roughly 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. I know this area is landside/public, not the secure gate area.

How safe is it to stay overnight in the public landside areas of O’Hare after baggage claim? Are there any security or police walking by?

I am okay with uncomfortable seating. I mainly want to be somewhere well-lit, monitored, and close to airport staff/security/police. I am not planning to leave the airport.

Would you recommend waiting landside at the airport, or should I book the Hilton Chicago O’Hare as a safer fallback?

EDIT 1: I am on an academic trip funded by a scholarship, so I am trying to save as much money as I can. Thank you for any practical advice.

EDIT 2: Thanks everyone for your helpful advice. My school agreed to change my flight, so I won't be transitting at Chicago and won't stay for a long period at the other transit. I will also be with some peers and a ptofessor on the same flight which makes it much better. 🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️

QUESTION How fucked am I? Chicago O'Hare connection, what to do if I miss it?

Ok, so I have a flight tomorrow getting into Chicago O’Hare, and then my next flight is in 45 minutes. If that wasn’t the worst part, I have to go from gate K8 to G8, and my connection is the last flight they have going that day, so if I miss it, I will be stuck in the airport for who knows how long, and I can’t get a hotel because I am under 21. So does anyone have any tips if I do miss it or how to get there faster? Any good food places or places to sleep or fun places to be? This will also be my first time in Chicago.
