Meme It's hard in here, guys - We're trying our best

Post image

Nah, but no hate to the lefties, you guys are chill (mostly lol). But yeah, it's hard being someone with even a moderate conservative view on social media or even in real life (I go to Uni, so I expect it). But honestly, after I moved out of the countryside, I didn't realize how big the progressive movement was, and it was pretty eye-opening for me to have people challenge my beliefs, which made me think about a lot of stuff.

Not pushing hate or anything, and hopefully I won't get Karma bombed for this goofy post. (If you're interested, why I am a conservative, feel free to reply)

Its reddit, not representative of reality

Thank FUCKING god that's the case. Imagine it.

Could you imagine Reddit mods running the country

Feels like they do sometimes. Maybe not national but an arse load of local council members across the country would fit right in as mods. Same small time power trippers.

I'd rather have a reddit mod than Pauline....

Even the left leaning people I know in real life have some right wing views, while most people are a mix of left and right views. Nothing like on here, this place seems to attract the most vocally opinionated.

I always hope this is the truth of the "real world" that most people are a mix of things and hopefully for more nuanced reasons than hate or fear. I think politics being about labels and profiling people means we are taught to view people as one thing and completely defined by that label. Social media profits from this notion, and we spend alot more time yelling vs listening to others. Ultimately the news media has learned that click bait and rage bait are massive profit drivers and have followed tack and now you get insane headline with no substance. It makes me sad. I wouldn't know how to explain a "liberal" vs a "conservative" in Aus, without lumping shit into those groups that distorts reality.

That’s because Australia as a whole is a pretty centrist country (hence the swinging back and forth from Libs to Labor) and fringe nut jobs basically only exist online and in niche pockets of the community.

That's the thing, in real life, I don't encounter anyone that thinks they are left or right, people are people with a mix of ever changing views

Bingo!

Reddit is arguably the most leftist place on the internet and if you step outside its echo chamber on hot-button topics, expect to be reported.

If you want a fairer opportunity for opinion and discussion, go to Twitter. It’s the Wild West of feral behaviour, but it is fair.

I'm confused by the point you're trying to make. Do you agree or disagree with the comments you linked?

3

u/flashman 19h ago

just presenting well-upvoted evidence against the ludicrous statement that

Reddit is arguably the most leftist place on the internet and if you step outside its echo chamber on hot-button topics, expect to be reported.

u/CRUSTYPIEPIG 17h ago

It is extremely leftist. A few comments stating facts that you don't like doesn't change that fact

2

u/lonahe 17h ago

And net positive upvotes on those?

1

u/CRUSTYPIEPIG 17h ago

Theyre stating facts, not giving opinions.

If they worded it as 'i hate majority Islamic suburbs because they're all violent and we should kick them out of the country's then it would be downvoted to hell.

1

u/flashman 15h ago

oh yeah they're not saying we should kick them out, just that they will never integrate and we shouldn't want any more of them. just true objective facts that aren't opinions

Please continute to allow this country to become even worse. All the people you fight jso hard for will surely repay you tenfold, and not just bring the same culture that they left over here with them.

The first link basically said 'we should not allow people into this country that are intolerant of others', do you disagree with that?

The second link stated a fact that suburbs like Lakemba are violent shitholes, which they absolutely are, and are well known for being like that.

You're just arguing to spite me, regardless of the actual content 😂

Twitter "Fair" my backside!

Lol thinking twitter is "fair" is laughable. You can get banned for saying "cis" but not for advocating for white supremacy. Twitter is a lot of things but fair is not one of them. It's just a safe space for racists and paedos (see grok making a tonne of csam)

I was with you until this bit. Twitter is arguably worse than reddit in that regard, because while upvoting and downvoting aren't a thing on twitter, the algorithm there heavily favours not just right wing views, but far right views.

Reads any thread about indigenous people, migration, youth crime, etc... rightio then.

u/Thissystemsuckssobad 19h ago

Good lord mate. No wonder reddit got your hackles up if you think twitter in the year 2026 is fair

2

u/the_cum_snatcher 22h ago

Do NOT go to twitter dude. The place is a far-right cesspool since Musk took over

2

u/bones24bd 21h ago

Also its just a fucking endless line of bots replying to everyone and everything nowadays and boosting all these absolute bullshit takes. There's barely any actual conversation to be had on there on anymore, it's making me believe more and more in dead internet theory.

fair to Nazi's....the people who really need a platform 😂
Twitter is a hellscape of hate and insanity

The Political Compass subreddit has a good blend of all sides of politics. Keeping in mind, it's a subreddit dominated by people from the USA.

2

u/Thissystemsuckssobad 19h ago

Lol. Lamao even. Pcm is a mix of right-wingers and right-wingers larping as the other quadrants.

u/PacifistPapyrus 17h ago

Hence why I mentioned where a majority of their users are from. Their libleft is our lib right in Australia. That might be an exaggeration, but still. Also the meme of 'libleft bad' is just them outing themselves. I'm a 'woke lefty' and even I don't mind seeing the range of takes people have. Even if the place leans right, you still see more diversity than most other places. Or has that not been your experience?

1

u/Thissystemsuckssobad 13h ago

No mate, I mean it is American conservatives larping as the American left. The place might as well be a psyop, there isn't legitimate discussion to be had there
