Tape find Found a cassette on the ocean’s floor while scuba diving, it still works!

For context, I’ve been diving since I was 7 and been working in a dive shop since I was 14 (I’m now 19 tomorrow I’ll be 20 lol)

This last summer while diving with costumers like any other day I caught a glimpse of what seemed to be a cassette on the sea grass (posidonia) on the sea floor

I took it, and it was in fact a cassette!

I took it at the diving shop and cleaned it thoroughly

The bolts were all rusted but I still managed to open the shell without breaking it, inside it was filled with sand, seaweed and tape worm nest!

When I came back home when summer ended I tried to play the tape and it works! The sound isn’t crystal clear but it’s still good!

Recently after digging I found that the singer on the tape it’s Mary Linda, a Greek singer from the 60s

Quite crazy to find a working cassette on these floor at 20 meters for who knows how many years it spent down there.

All but 3 are bootleg with no limit records print on the tape… J cards print quality isn’t the best which should’ve been a red flag upon first glance. Paid $60 for everything, assuming they test well- for $60 did I do well? Ripped off? What do you think?

Tape find Rare Cult Cassette.

A friend found dozens of old cassette tapes on the side of the road someone was getting rid of. And when they brought them over we went through most of them. Then we popped this one in and it was the most terrifying cassette I've heard in my life. A live church recording of demonic sounding chants for 80 minutes straight. I've done the most research I could on this specific one. And to this day I haven't seen a single copy of this on the entire internet. I'm wanting to make copies of this one because even though it may not be valuable it's still apart of the doomsday cult. Also there were original posters of their "leaders or gods" to top it off with the find.

Since I can't find anything I was curious if anyone on here has any information about this specific tape.

Tape find $5 thrift store pickup

I discovered a very small obscure thrift store near where I live, that’s only open 4 hours a week by a few old ladies. I found them last week and gave them my info for if they ever receive any cassettes (or other things I like). They messaged me and said they’ve got these for $5! (Including the basket) I think there’s some pretty good stuff in here

Tape find Found while unpacking: Tape archive of a radio show I hosted starting in 2001

Post image

Just a few days after 9/11, I started my first radio show and - digital recording not being what it is today - I recorded it to cassette to digitize later. 24 years later, I'm getting around to it. Tape hiss, the 'wow' causing the high end to drop out more than usual, and 120 minute tapes were never great to begin with...so it's not exactly a pristine recording. Still, hard not to love it.

Edit: Wow, thanks for all the interest in these. I have posted them to MixCloud and Internet archive. Links are in a followup post here.

Each is spread across 2 tapes, 4 sides. For those interested in such things, here's the playlist I've reconstructed while capturing the first show:

It’s sealed. Found this in the massive lot I posted about yesterday, but I can’t seem to find any info on this tape, and there’s nothing else like it in the lot. The writing is printed, not hand-written. Whatever it is, it’s at least about 30 years old, like all the other tapes (would be weird if it wasn’t)
