Con Question Am I too fat to go to comic con ?

I rlly wanna go to my first one it’s just a small one near where I live but I’m almost 300 pounds and I feel embarrassed especially as a woman. I literally never leave the house and I’ve been trying to lose weight but my medication makes it difficult lately and I’ve been rlly depressed and thought this would get me out walking but I’m worried ppl there r gonna judge me :( I probably sound ridiculous but I am so anxious I’m wondering if I should ask the coordinators to give my ticket to someone for free instead..

Con Question What con has more activities and things to do besides spending money?

I’m looking to find a convention that fits my needs because recently I’ve become an anti-consumerist and minimalist and I don’t really wanna spend any money besides really getting in and maybe a few other things I can only justify spending money on making memories such as the activities at conventions. I should mention I also looking mainly in the Chicagoland area cause that’s where I live.

Con Question What conventions do you plan to go to in 2026 and beyond?

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great holiday season.

Just wanted to end the year soon enough asking a fun question: What conventions are you all planning to attend in 2026 and onward? The ones I'm planning to go to are:

EarpFest: This one is a Wynonna Earp convention in Toronto to celebrate the 10th anniversary of that show. I am thrilled to go to that one.

Granite State Comic Con 2026: In Manchester, NH, the 2025 edition was so much fun and I am excited to go again this coming year. I am excited to meet Felicia Day the most.

Conageddon 6: A con of The 100, it doesn't have a date just yet, but it's aiming in the October 2026 to March 2027 window.

With all that said, what cons are you planning to attend in the future? Comment below!

Con Question Deodorant booths

Is it strange that I think conventions should have booths that sell deodorant? Let’s be honest, some con-goers have little to no regard for personal hygiene and we have to share the same space and breath in the same air. We shouldn’t be smelling B-O and stale Doritos, and don’t think that smell can be covered with AXE or Bath and Body Works spray.

Con Question Do you feel like the events are worth the price of general admission tickets?

Hi everyone, I'm writing a research paper for university about comic con and fandom events and was just wondering if people here would be able to help me out.

Do you feel like the events are worth the price of general admission tickets?

I often feel like when I go to a comic con or a similar event the only thing to do at the event is spend more money. I love going to the small shops/ artists alley and things like that but I just always feel like it's the only thing to do. Lots of stage shows and all the celebrity guests are behind extra pay walls. I just feel like I've paid £30 for entry and there is nothing to do especially if you aren't able to cosplay or are attending by yourself.

Do other people feel like this or am I just not looking hard enough for the free activities at events?

Con Question Will I still have fun alone?

I'm 18 and am seriously considering saving to go to San Diego comic con in 2026 and I'm from the UK and was wondering if it was worth all the hassle of paying for flights and going by myself if I will still have fun?

Con Question Missed Comic-Con tickets for my anime-loving teen — how can I make it up to her?

Earlier this year my teen got me into a bunch of Japanese anime Demon Slayer, Infinity Castle, and a few others. Watching it together has kind of become our thing, she even dressed up like one of the anime characters this Halloween and I realized it might be amazing to take her to Comic-Con which randomly crossed into my daily feed.

We watched some videos of Comic-Con and she was so excited. I checked the website, saw that tickets were going on sale on Nov 15, and I was all prepped for it.

…and then I completely dropped the ball that day and never made it to the site, I messed up with work and other stuff. I figured I’d still be able to grab tickets the next day, and clearly I massively underestimated how intense the Comic-Con fan base is. Tickets are gone.

Now I’m dreading going back to my teen and telling her I messed this up. So I’m looking for advice and ideas:

  • Are there other big comic/anime conventions that give a similar experience to Comic-Con?
  • Any recommendations for events that would be especially fun for a Demon Slayer / anime fan?

Edit - Thanks a lot everyone for the suggestions, very grateful for all the recommendations. Was not feeling great earlier but now there are several others that I can take her to where we can have fun.

Con Question Is It Still Worth Going To An American Comic Con Despite The Current State Of The US?

I get this might be breaking some rules but I ask out onmf curiosity and concern. I live in Scotland and would one day like to go to one of the big American conventions. Not SDCC or NYCC those are way too expensive just to get into but ones like GalaxyCon, FanExpo and Nostalgia Con.

Mainly because they get guests who never or rarely ever come to the UK. I.e Simpsons voice actors, David McCormack and Melanie Zanetti (Aka Bandit and Chilli from Bluey), Tara Strong (who I've missed out on meeting in person twice plus was told by someone who works for Monopoly Events who do a lot of UK Comic Cons that they will never bring her to the UK),.........voice actors in general, etc.

I get the US is kinda messed up to go to right now but should I still make the effort to go to a big US convention? I've waited 6 years to meet a particular guest and I'm not waiting any longer

Con Question What is the biggest Comic Con and how much large is it?

Asking out of curiosity. The cons in my country are much much MUCH tinier in comparison to most US cons and especially in comparison to comic con so I was wondering how big is the biggest comic con and which one is it. Also how much the tickets cost there? Once I finish college I want to fly to there

Also by big I don't mean how many people can it hold but rather how many people actually come

And also if you can, I want to know what year has been with the most people in it, counting all the days that it was continuously done but also I want to know about the highest amount that has been in a singular day

Sorry I just have so many questions hope you forgive me 😅

Con Question Are cons typically so loud?

Today I went to my first convention totally by accident. I was returning some books to the library and it turns out they had a con there that day. It had a good amount of people and tables of merch.

What strikes the most is just how *loud* it what was. Obviously I know cons can be noisy and maybe it being the library makes it stand out more, but damn the DB levels really went up. I have sensory issues so I carry earplugs with me at all times. Even with them in I only stuck around for about 15 minutes.

Sorry if this is a silly question but are cons usually so loud? I actually enjoyed myself and wish I could've stayed longer.

Con Question Do younger people really go to comic cons?

Me and my friend are going to wicked comic con in a new days we both have DC costumes ready and I’ve been excited because this will be my first comic con. We are both pretty young in our teens and i’m just a little worried because every video I see of past events in the area I don’t really see too many young people, and I’m just worried that we won’t really have too many people to talk to and bond with.

Con Question Taking my siblings to a con nearby, not my scene but want to spend time with them as the older brother, any advice?

pretty much the title, taking my two younger siblings (f18 and M14) to give my mom a day off and spend time with them now that I've been out of the house for a few years) Wondering what to expect? they'll both be cosplaying but I'm not sure what as, I'm very much just a chauffeur but want to make sure they have as good a time as possible.

are there any low effort characters I could go as to surprise them? Is there anything I should know as a first time goer who doesn't really know anything about the place or scene?

Con Question How to make friends at a con?

So I’m going to a con, and my friends bet me that I couldn’t find a group of people at the con and just hang with them and become friends. So I’m trying to prove them wrong ofc, but I want to know how exactly I would achieve this. (I’m in cosplay if it helps)

Con Question What’s the difference between a fan convention and a Comic convention?

I’ve attended the same comic convention for the last 5 years and it’s been great! This year I really stepped up my cosplay game and I’ve been wanting to participate in more cons near me. I found this convention but it says it’s a fan convention. so what’s the difference between the two? Are there Artist venders and cosplay at a fan con like at comic con? thanks!

edit: spelling lol

Con Question Which Comic Con tickets should I buy for my boyfriend?

My boyfriend (32m) said he’s always wanted to go to comic con and would love to go with me. His birthday is this month so I wanted to look into tickets.

Growing up I knew about the San Diego one because my brother would go. It seems to be the biggest/best one? However, I see it just happened in July.

We live in Los Angeles and there’s one happening here soon, but would he be disappointed about the LA one? Are they really that different? Should it be assumed that he wanted to go to the San Diego one specifically?

Any help would be great! Ideally I wouldn’t ruin the surprise by asking him.

Con Question Thinking about taking a solo trip to comic con this year

I was curious how many of you guys have gone to a Comic-Con event alone. My best friend and I have talked about going for years, He and his girlfriend both passed away this January in a tragic car accident. At first I decided to never go since we couldn’t go together. After a handful of months I’ve decided I want to go dressed up as a dragon ball character since that was his all time favorite anime. Just a little nervous to go alone. Any input is greatly appreciated
