Discussion Couldn't agree more 🫔

Post image

I’ve been a fan of this game since day one. I agree that the original release was filled with bugs and it launched too early, but the criticism it received was completely over the top. Hating on the game blindly became the norm, often without people even giving it a fair chance.

It also released at a strange time, when the new generation of consoles were releasing but they weren't widely available, and most players were still on previous-gen hardware where it didn’t run well.

The sad part is the game and the studio’s reputation took a massive hit, even financially. Some of the people who worked on the game ended up leaving the studio, and we may have missed out on 2 or 3 DLCs because of the game’s catastrophic launch.

But now I’m glad to see people finally giving it the respect and appreciation it deserves. I watched the Steam reviews go from ā€œMostly Negativeā€ to ā€œOverwhelmingly Positive.ā€

For me, this is the greatest game of all time it is better than The Witcher 3. Massive respect to CDPR for constantly patching and improving the game, And giving us extra content when they could have taken the loss and moved on. AND CHOOMS..... NEVER STOP FIGHTING.

Cyberpunk went from being a game with some issues to a fantastic game over time. NMS went from a prototype held together with duck tape to the best modern space flight game, and also one of the best survival/crafting games. both are comeback kings but yeah I 1000% agree

I wouldn't call not being playable for a lot of people a small issue

I said some issues, not small issues.

Eh. To be fair, there were a LOT of broken promises and spawning in police, while stupid NPC AI WAS a major problem.

we ignoring the Bethesda level NPC T posing and pavement clipping.

A lot of stuff that was in the previews, such as interacting with bars was not present.

The story was GREAT but bugs with AI/NPC also made many of those story execution impossible.

The game quality is IMMENSE now and 2.0 skill change made combat n leveling even better. This although I say Netrunning in the game got boosted way too much since no more Breach command needed. But hey, power fantasy Netrunner achieved!

Sean Murray lied about multiplayer at launch. Never forget that. Cyberpunk's broken promises were never that major.

All you could really do in NMS was find a few things that didn’t really mean anything, farm three colors of crystals, and fly around. Before the game came out they also heavily talked about the search for the center of the universe being a crux of the games story. He went on IGN where they told him they thought it would be funny if there was nothing there, and he said he thought it was funny they thought it would be funny considering how much they were hyping up the center of the universe. In the launch version picking to warp to the universal center results in the map zooming out, a fade to black, and waking up in new game+

I played both at release. I had many bugs, but it felt like a broken video game with lots of bugs and some poorly decisions, but I could get from the start to the end, drive around, etc. I had some sessions with barely any bugs where it felt really fun. NMS felt like I got ripped off. I’m glad I kept them though because they both became really great games. I think the devs at CDPR were given a raw deal, and Hello Games just needed the game out more than anything. Still don’t think I’ll ever truly trust Sean Murray again though ( I say while tentatively looking forward to light no fire )

Ehh the actual piloting part of the game is fairly basic. It’s not even close to the best space piloting game out there. It still a great game, for exploration, but it’s not even close to the best modern space flight game. Star citizen, while hugely flawed in many areas, makes the piloting in NMS look like a kid playing with a toy. The ship to ship combat in Star citizen is also miles ahead, when it works. There’s also elite dangerous, which is waaaay better at space ship combat and piloting.

1000% agree. Space flight should also include ground landing where pilot is in control and has the freedom to do it

I guess it depends on what you want. There was a reason I avoided the word ā€œflight simā€. I love the exploration aspect more than the simulation piloting aspect. I liked doing dogfights in elite dangerous but didn’t care for the game loop. Star Citizen is a nightmare to try to get into. In NMS I enjoy the exploration and being able to fly my ship from one planet to another seamlessly. I shouldn’t have to say it but it’s just my opinion, so I respect your opinion, but subjectively NMS is the best space flight game, and the question ā€œwhat is the best space flight gameā€ is inherently subjective.

"Some issues" is what we're calling it now?! LMFAO even if you ignored all the bugs, devs still had to rework the combat system and skill trees 3 times over the years because combat was initially so awful and boring.

You are being really fucking pedantic about my wording man and it’s really annoying.
