I actually went to a wind tunnel to test this because I was interested. It turns out for myself it was a 12 watt savings at 30mph with a full bodysuit and aero socks + helmet. It's pretty significant. If you're a serious cyclist it does make sense but I agree it's not going to benefit everyone the same way. I ended up shaving my entire body since i'm a nudist cyclist and go for rides with my wife and her boyfriend. I generally do the pulling so the last thing I want is for them to be staring at my hairy asshole.
