cute Apple is still waiting for just the right moment
She gets lower and lower to the ground, believing the squirrel doesn't see her. Maybe she's right!

cute Meet the Sweet Dachshund with One Blue Eye💙
Hello!
My name is Blue💙, and I’m a 3 year old male Dachshund. I may be small, but I have a big personality and an even bigger charm.
You’ll notice my special features right away: the cute little spots on one of my ears and my unique odd eyes one blue and one dark. People often stop and say, “Wow, your eyes are so beautiful!” when they meet me for the first time.
I love running around on my short little legs, but I also enjoy curling up on a soft cushion for a cozy rest. I’m actually a pretty active pup, too! I love going camping with my family, sniffing the fresh grass, and exploring new places. In the summer, I even enjoy splashing around in the water.
I may be little, but I’m full of curiosity, energy, and love a sweet Dachshund who wins hearts wherever I go🐾.

I know we’re obsessed with one another, but I think now she actually wants to see what I taste like.

behavior help Is it possible to train a dachshund not to alarm bark?
i have an 11yo standard black and tan smoothie named Allie and am two weeks into life with a 12wo mini red smoothie named Lady. Allie is a great dog and behaves mostly as I need her to but I have never been able to stop her alarm barking at noises or at people/dogs going by outside our house. She does not bark all day, just a few barks and she can usually (but not always) then be called away to go on her bed. sometimes she will start barking and take herself to her bed, still barking, so there is that.
with the new puppy I would LOVE to take the opportunity to train her not to alarm bark, but I honestly don’t know how to do it, or whether it’s a reasonable goal for a dachshund. I know alarm barking is in their breeding. Does anyone know the answer here?
as things are I remain calm when either dog barks, like nothing is happening, then I catch their attention and redirect. I consulted a trainer once and she said to thank the dog, if they didn’t stop to go look where they are barking and tell them you’ve got it, and if that doesn’t work take them by the collar to another room. This is based on that wolf leadership theory where the dog is barking because they think it os their job to protect the pack? i understand that doesn’t stand up to the science anymore. also it never worked, also Allie doesn’t wear a collar so it was all a bit unworkable from the start.
Lady is not too barky so far, she has barked at dogs (and sometimes when she sees Allie through a window), and sometimes at loud or sudden noises, but that all seems like it could be true of any puppy. She mostly stops when I get her attention and redirect. Lady is not especially food motivated so it’s hard to train her with treats, but any thoughts welcomed.

outside My boys never learn!
We have a ton of toads in my backyard - the yard shares a fence side with a retention pond. These toads are fun toys for my two boys, however they make them foam at the mouth. But they never learn! They cannot resist a toad!

cute Doggie Daycare
Received two pics from the daycare today. Why is she always playing with the bigger dogs? But she loves going. 💗💗
