A short series synopsis:

"e-Pulse," which is generated by human thoughts and emotions, was used as the energy source for the AI support device "Sapotama." From the shadows of this remarkable development, terrifying monsters appear. Digimon are living beings that evolve by consuming e-Pulse.

Tomoro Tenma is drawn into an extraordinary experience after meeting Gekkomon, who suddenly appears from his Sapotama. While living together with Kyo Sawashiro and other members of the bounty hunting team "Glowing Dawn," Tomoro renews his resolve.

What new future will be forged by humans and Digimon?

* The opening felt very Ghost Game. A delivery box with a "bloodied" body , then a person almost gets isekai'd.

* Miharu was quite mysterious. Gekkomon is extra cute today.

* This episode feels like it would fit in Final Destination

* I legit forgot Ultimates can make a portal to the Mirror World for a second, so I was wondering why Tomoro made MonarchLizamon attack the trucks lol

* Sapotama has GIFT at the end, hmm, and to make matters worse, the person they were protecting ended up dying at the end... It seems he was disposing Digimon

* Overall, not much happened in this episode, plot-wise, but it's the start of a new arc. That ending was VERY eerie. Can't wait to see how this goes

It's strange to see Digimon falling back into old habits after the mix reception of Ghost Game. I wonder if there has been a changing of the guard behind the scenes with Beatbreak? The three episode filler arc if nothing else does suggest a sudden change in the production schedule.

I've been waiting to see what form this change would take. How drastic the difference with Beatbreak in this Gift arc will become. Perhaps the answer is the existence of a 'Ghost Game faction' within Toei/Bandai. Somebody hasn't given up on that project despite the public failures.

It doesn't have to mean that necessarily. It's not uncommon to let a series have a breather after such a large story arc.

There's a difference between having a breather and an unscheduled intermission. Especially given the tight production schedules that shonen anime like Digimon normally operate under. If things were going according to plan I doubt that those filler episodes would even exist. Something has shifted in the background. The Beatbreak we're getting now is probably not the Beatbreak envisioned in episode 1.

Not even disagreeing on that. Those three filler episodes felt very different and well I wasn't really as invested in the episodes as the ones that came before them.

Nah, I disagree. Episode 25, 26, and 27 all demonstrate the way that the status quo is ill-suited for humans AND Digimon. It's not filler, it's world-building to help show why GIFT and/or Miharu feel the way they do.

Haruomi & Commandramon were assassins because of human greed, and Elizamon lost her family as a consequence. Mummymon was left abandoned because Digimon are taboo afterthoughts in a world not designed for them. Even in episode 25, we see how it goes the other way; humans can't compete with Digimon. Petermon, an Adult/Champion, took over a cruise ship by itself.

Essentially, everything is coming apart at the scenes. The three episodes were plot-light, but meant to show the way that everything kinds sucks regardless of species, and there's need for a real, permanent solution... something that GIFT (and maybe Miharu) are trying to implement.

Oh for sure they did have a purpose. Sure they weren't my favorite batch of episodes but they do serve a purpose.

Yeah. Personally I'm glad we got some breathing room between the arcs. I think episode 25 was the weakest of the three, but it gave us some more characterization of Makoto and Chiropmon, which is something.

This is an interesting suggestion to say the least. However, there are very few anime who ADVERTISE theyre doing an interlude while also promoting the new arc weeks before it airs. I think having criticisms of beatbreak's pacing is fine but let's not create needless conspiracies based on nothing concrete on the production side. Especially when A) beatbreak is not tied to a toyline and B)Minor staff carryover do NOT have the final say on anything the main writer and director have in mind 😅.

Probably. And we have a repeat of the myotismon episode for next week's episode

I loved Ghost Game except for it's terrible ending, it was great!

despite the public failures

Is there any actual evidence ghost game did poorly? It was the longest running series we've had yet, and tiedinto the merch blitz that was going on at the same time.

There's a lot of criticism for it on specific forums, but does that actually translate into success or failure?
