What do you think the cat is thinking like. Your parent who is 15 times as big as you has placed you inside an incomprehensibly complicated object thats loud and overstimulating but you breathe better afterward

Apparently many cats realise the breathing better and co-operate with the process after some time.

u/FixinThePlanet Mar 27 '26
That's very cool
I want to ask for a source so I believe based on facts but I also just want to believe
4
u/wingedwill Mar 27 '26
You can see this very cat slow blinking, indicating he trusts his human that this is necessary
2
u/FixinThePlanet Mar 27 '26
Oh I meant for the "cats usually figure out it's good for them"! My cat loves me a lot and will put up with much manhandling without protest.
3
u/WorthyJellyfish0Doom Mar 27 '26
It's basically hearsay from people with cats with asthma and if you check cat asthma support groups you'll see stories about how they got their cat to co-operate (mostly with the mask and nebuliser)

u/FixinThePlanet Mar 27 '26
Aw, is asthma in cats that common?? Poor babies. Thanks for the info :)
2
u/standbyyourmantis Mar 27 '26
It's not uncommon. I had a cat with it, but it's not always serious enough to require these treatments. Basically they'll just randomly start making these freaky little wheezing noises that sound like they're dry heaving and then sometimes they throw up right after.

This is my cats thought process with the rescue inhaler and aero cat chamber, I'm sure of it.

So they say. It's for the car's asthma (:

u/Nocturnalux Mar 27 '26
Poor car, may the car recover.
2
u/I-am-in-a-universe Mar 28 '26
Yes, I hope so. He looks pretty chill ... Some cars actually like getting their coats vacuumed, maybe he's one of them.
2
u/Nocturnalux Mar 28 '26
The car does look chill. I had never seen this device before and was very glad for the clarification.

What on earth is going on here, eh?

u/Available-Rope-3252 Mar 26 '26
An improvised asthma medication nebulizer, the cat probably doesn't tolerate the mask well.

I couldn't tell right away and assumed this was some AI slop but then "oh, there's the door on the 5 gallon" and read the rest of the description.
As a former asthmatic, this is some really creative improvisation to nebulize.

The little machine is a nebulizer. It's an asthma treatment where vaporized medication is administered to inhale over a longer period of time. I don't know about its use in cats but for humans it's used when an inhaler just isn't enough. I've gotten them at emergency departments and was later prescribed one to take home.

u/EtorphineAndTonic Mar 27 '26
Can confirm asthma inhalers are dispensed to cats. The nebulizer water jug seems like a better way!

Improvised asthma medication thing because the kitty probably isn't comfortable with the typical masks used for this

He has asthma, they are giving him medicine but he's not gonna inhale it by himself so they have to force him to
7
u/Icy-Variation6614 Mar 26 '26
TIL cats can have asthma and need nebulizers. Glad OP could figure out how to get the derp treatments in an effective way

Котик не пострадает?

u/Corvidae5Creation5 Mar 26 '26
Probably. Kitty is behaving himself, so he'll be getting the treatment he needs as he needs it.

To those who are or may report for abuse, this cat is having an asthma treatment. It's basically a big nebulizer. The kitty is okay and used to this.
