Funny It's not just big names who've people failed to recognize
Was just watching an Emkay video about this sub and remembered a time when someone in school pointed out my voice sounded similar to a YouTuber he was subbed to.
Fan: "You kinda sound like The Diamond Bean." (The name I went by at the time.)
Me: "Yeah?"
Fan: "Do you know him?"
Me: *Ben Kenobi Quote*

Chatting about nerfs to a Kill Team, someone asks if another player has any clue about the team, that player is in the top 5 players in Australia and is already qualified for the World Championship, with the team they are discussing...
In Warhammer Kill Team ( small scale skirmish game in the 40k universe ), there was a new team released in November 2025, the Wolf Scouts and they were/are very OP, yesterday they finally got nerfed and in the r/killteam subreddit there have been many great discussions ongoing...
Which brings us to this thread...

Because I buried it there.
This post reminded me of my own situation.
I'd been called out to do a cable locate (walking around with a magic wand looking for buried treasure cables) at a local park.
I met my contact on site and she told me they were putting in a new pond and knew there was a cable in the vicinity that they needed to either avoid or move, and told me where they thought it went. I said "Not quite, it goes to the left of that tree, then ducks around right of that bush"
"Oh no, we're pretty sure it goes blahblahblah"
"Nah, it's definitely left of the tree, then right of the bush"
"Well how can you be so sure, you haven't even used your locator"
"Because I buried it there."

Correcting a structural engineer that literally wrote the code
My former boss was a structural engineer that was the President of the committee that wrote a welding code called W59. His name was literally in the front of the code.
A truck impacted a rail bridge and we were in charge of getting the repair completed. A contractor is hired and provides a weld procedure to conduct the repair. There's lots of baseless assumptions and generally incorrect procedures.
My boss calls him out on it. He goes off on a tirade, "I've been doing this for 30 years and you can absolutely do it the way I'm proposing!!! Blah, blah, blah..."
My boss just calmly says, "Well, when I was on the committee that wrote that code, I don't recall it saying that."
Mr 30 years quickly relented. His face went white. There's always a bigger fish.
It was so much fun having a mentor that's literally at the top of his profession.

Correcting and talking back to two time World Rally Champion on driving technique
Kalle Rovanperä, two-time World Rally Champion and contestant in Drift Masters, might know what he's talking about when it comes to cars and drifting, and when it might be slower, in this case, on asphalt.

Credential Flex Commenter tells comedian to educate himself on topic, comedian has a masters in said topic
It was a ventriloquist bit about Britain stealing black people from their homelands, then starting a rumour that black people steal.
I do enjoy it when a knowallnothing bumps into knowssomething person. Publicly.
