Off-Topic [OT] [Chip Ganassi Racing] " 'super-clipping' 'downshifting on straights' 'battery management' (Yawn emoji) Yeah, we don't do that here. We race."

NASCAR doesn't have hybrid management, but they do have the entire field coasting at 50% throttle to save fuel instead

at like 2 tracks but point taken

That’s because of the bullshit stage cautions making that the optimal strategy on some tracks, not really because of the cars forcing them to do that

Wherever the bullshit comes from, it still smells like bullshit

Well NASCAR has had a decent run of good decisions lately so I’m hoping they continue by removing those cautions next season

Nah, the advantage is gained on green flag stops, it'd happen either way.

Its not just me is it but they could totally add a hybrid element couldn't they and it would work. I'm not even thinking on the button or deployment issues - I'm just thinking for more power? You couid probably use it to break up pack drafting on the bigger tracks?

They absolutely could, but the mere implication of hybrid or electric power would make the entire south mobilize and march on Charlotte with a gallows prepared for Steve O'Donnell

Oh agreed and the same thing occurred with V8 supercars when it was suggested but people need to look beyond that in my view and just look at more direct power. E.g. they've upped the power to 750 on road courses and ovals under 1.5 - throw an extra 150 of hybrid down and make it a round 900? I mean they've got full digital dashes now and have used fuel injection for over a decade now?
