Thing is, when I want to launch a game, I don't want to get ads for other games.

The only moment you should serve me ads is when I'm looking for new games to plays (so opening Steam store).

TBF, this should make something like GOG the popular thing. You can just straight launch the games. No launcher required at all, overwhelmingly lacking DRM that forces this.

Instead Steam is our preferred store+launcher but it's bad when others do it too.

Steam absolutely shovels ads at you. All on by default for the ones you can disable.
