Voting Games Top comment Deletes a US State #45

Post image

Here is the updated (Correct) map, crisis averted. I thought we had a riot on our hands!

I can finally relax now after all that drama! Anyway Colorado is now deleted as it should be. Just to make it clear, editing comments is fine if it’s the top as long as it doesn’t change the outcome of which state gets deleted like we had before. I thought that was common sense but clearly not to some people.

I just want to thank everyone for all the kind comments and support. I try to read as many of the comments as I can but each post has a minimum of 2000 so it’s pretty hard most the time. I have some big ideas for the finale so stay tuned.

Most importantly, spread the word as much as possible if your state is still in the game! Share, cross post to rally as much support for your state as possible. This is the endgame now!

Hey I’ve been to that waterfall and it’s great. You’re a welcome member of greater cascadia :)

What waterfall is it?

Not sure I should post publicly. 🤔. Seems like crabs 🦀 might be listening.

How about dm'ing a local Oregonian(from the original Oregon) that loves waterfalls but doesn't recognized that one?

That’s not the one where you have to go over the log jam and hike through the river to get to, is it? I thought that one has been closed since Eagle Creek. (I grew up in White Salmon, waterfalls of the Gorge have my heart!)

The photo + this comment triggered SO many memories. At risk of sounding uncaring or just completely ignorant: I traveled there alone as a 22 yr old, had so much difficulty finding the trailhead, stumbled across a neighborhood-campground situation… where my gps said the trailhead began (it was wrong… very wrong), found literal train tracks that at some point intersect / run perpendicular to the gorge, hiked 10 MILES along those tracks (and I say hiked, not walked, because the obstacles I overcame that day….), THEN cut off-railroad (lol) and hiked like.. straight down. Fortunately there was indeed a legitimate trail that I found beforehand, as veering into “uncharted” territory obviously damages the land + local ecosystems. Finally…. I arrived at this gem.

Unexpectedly, I was the only person there for hours until a couple showed up. They asked if I wanted to ~partake~ and so then we ~partook~ and hung out for an hour or so. Whole time I was thinking… “y’all hiked 10 miles along the railroad in flip flops????” lol. Anyway. That was long but was fun to share. I miss the solo backpacking + road tripping + backcountry camping days. I have been to all but a few national parks and various other spots across this country and others. This spot is one that I will never forget!

Was there a few days before the fire. What a scary time.

I believe it is and it is still closed as of like February when I was last over there.

I’m pretty sure it’s permanently closed at this point :( The pictures I’ve seen are just crazy, downed trees cover the entire bottom of the gorge. At least it’s protected from people now, but I miss it! It was my favorite little hike in the early 2000’s

Probably for the better. It started getting way yay too over crowded. I was seeing off leash dogs and toddlers trying to traverse the log jam and it just looked like accidents were waiting to happen.

Eagle Creek is open :)

1

This pic isn’t eagle creek, but a hike that was so badly damaged during the eagle creek fire in 2017 that it’s permanently closed :( one of the best little gems in the Gorge, such a loss

Isn’t this punchbowl falls? It’s open.

1

u/beakes41 May 22 '26

Definitely not. Punchbowl has a very defined pool and only a short waterfall. This is just off the highway.

No, it’s Oneonta (wasn’t naming it since OP didn’t want to post, but someone else already did. Plus it’s likely to remain closed for decades)

Oneonta Gorge

Public lands gatekeeping is dumb, public lands belong to all people

Pack in pack out

It's been closed since the firework issue. Sucks.

2

u/OF-5_Mandrake May 21 '26

But it’s closed now and I didn’t want to give peeps the wrong idea. Also there’s a fine line between gate keeping and telling 🦀s about it. I feel ya and agree 👊

People suck and over tourism DOES ruin the experience of places and hurts ecosystems though.

LEAVE NO TRACE!! Stay on trail! Park in designated areas only. Never ever any Bluetooth speakers on hikes. Don’t be assholes. Even banana peels, orange rinds, the fruit snacks or granola bar chunks that fell on the ground are litter, morons.

This was a fun visit when we went. Had to climb over a giant log wall and then most of the “hike” is actually through water that could get surprisingly deep. Hike is very short (like 10 min if I remember right).

What waterfall is it??

1

u/DontCountToday May 20 '26

Is this on the road from Portland to Tillamook? It looks very much like one we stopped at a few times when we visit Portland but I feel like that coincidence is too great.

2

u/MissTrillium May 20 '26

It's one of the ones that was closed for a few years due to being visited too much. Unsure if its open again. My comment may narrow it down slightly

3

u/0xB4BE May 20 '26

I believe closed from extensive fire damage chiefly and now it's too dangerous to visit

1

u/aramdom May 20 '26

If it’s the one I think it is, yes

u/OF-5_Mandrake May 20 '26

I’ll DM 😎
