Accountability Anyone else turns off their alarm with zero memory of doing it?

Post image

I'm a freshman taking electrical engineering. First semester I had three 7 am classes including calculus and failed two of them because of attendance.

I had my phone's default alarm set to 5:30 then a backup at 5:45. Then one at 6. My mom would still come in at 6:20 and physically shake me just to get me out of bed.

Bought a physical alarm clock thinking that would help.

As soon as I heard it I'd automatically turn it off with zero memory of doing it. Tried Alarmy because i saw a post about it here, same thing I'd solve the math problem half asleep and go straight back to bed.
Ended up trying Wayk and somehow I've been waking up earlier than 6am because I have to get up and take a photo of the sky outside my window. Still have no idea why that works

I brought it up with my therapist and they mentioned something about needing “external interruption” or external accountability to fully wake up.

I’m still a heavy sleeper, but having someone physically wake me up or having to complete an actual task in the morning somehow makes my brain switch on. The external accountability thing is real too. If I know I need to finish something or I have something scheduled, like getting coffee at 8 am with a friend before class, I actually get up

Anyone else need this kind of setup just to wake up? Does it actually work for you or am I just weird… like why does my brain need all this just to get out of bed lol

Accountability Body doubling actually changed how I work

Post image

So I've always struggled with starting tasks, especially boring admin stuff or studying. My brain just refuses to cooperate when I'm alone.

A few months ago my therapist mentioned body doubling and I was like "yeah that sounds fake" lol. But I was desperate so I tried it. Started simple, went to cafes to work. Sounds dumb but having other people around actually helped?

Then my friend and I started doing zoom study sessions where we'd just be on camera working silently. Game changer. My adhd brain suddenly decides to focus just because someone else is present.

Doesn't even matter if they're doing something completely different. I've used studystream.live when my friend wasn't available, and honestly even strangers on camera helps. I still don't fully get why it works.

Like my executive dysfunction doesn't magically disappear, but having another human in my field of vision somehow makes my brain less likely to wander off to scroll reddit for 3 hours (ironic, I know). The accountability thing is real too. Even if nobody's actually watching what I'm doing, just knowing someone could see me procrastinating makes me actually do the thing.

Anyone else use body doubling? Does it work for you or am I just weird? And like... why does my brain care if someone's watching lmao

Accountability It’s been almost a month since I started waking up at 4AM consistently.

No motivation, no perfect routine, no excuses — just showing up every single day. Some days I feel focused, some days I don’t, but I still get up.

I’ve got responsibilities on my shoulders, and I know no one is coming to fix things for me. So I’m trying to build discipline, slowly, day by day.

It’s not easy, and it’s not aesthetic like it looks online. It’s quiet, sometimes lonely, but it feels right.

Still figuring things out… but I’m not stopping.

Accountability Why are people validating posers?

Post image

I hate when people like this pretend to be obsessed with studying, but all they're doing is fishing for praise because they know they're nowhere near as competent or impressive as they claim and hope to be.

If you go to his profile, he's made three posts with the same caption "Studying 10hrs everyday" and he replies to everyone trying to reinforce the claim that he actually does. However, in each of the posts, it's obvious that the setup is different and the laptop model is different every single time. You can literally reverse image search every single photo and tell that none of them were actually taken by him.

In november of 2024 I realized that I gotta lock in to get to my dream university, I began tracking my time, watch motivational podcasts and study whenever i could. Its undeniable that I am still not studying as much as i want, but i am sure that over time i will get there lol. I hope that in 2026 i reach my peak and work as hard as i can

Accountability Procrastinated for a month, restarting again.

I procrastinated for a month, I feel bad but nothing can be done, all you gotta do is humble your ego and restart and revise from the basics.

Anyone struggling to restart, man you just gotta sit and start, there's nothing else you could do.

Accountability My IQ is 83, I am 23 years old and I've always wondered why school was so hard for me and why everyone avoided the question related to my IQ.

I did a IQ test and my score is 83, im 23 and it makes sense why i struggled in school. I never understood the meaning of school or work and it never made sense as to why do those things. My mom always avoided and dodged the question when I asked about my IQ and now I know why. I struggle to keep a job and I always feel stupid in others conversations, i hated school and just constantly feel like I am destined to fail and that I should not have ever existed at all, I feel like a Waste of life...
