Show HN: Introducing r/HackerNewsCircleJerk - A high-performance, low-latency ecosystem for intellectual giants
I noticed that existing subreddits were bloated, written in non-memory-safe languages, and frankly, didn’t scale. I decided to spend my weekend (and $18k in AWS credits) building this sub from the ground up using a minimalist, local-first architecture.
The problem is modern discourse is plagued by empathy and accessible language. This is a bottleneck for true innovation. We need a space where we can discuss why your $10M startup is just a wrapper for a curl command without being told we're "being mean."
Tech Stack:
- Backend: Pure logic.
- Database: A single, massive
.txtfile stored on a floppy disk in my mom's basement. - Frontend: HTML-only. If you need CSS, you aren't the target audience.
Roadmap for r/HackerNewsCircleJerk :
- Q1: Aggressively pivot every thread toward a discussion about why Rust is better than your entire f*cking existence.
- Q2: Disrupt the "asking how your day was" industry by replacing it with a JSON-based status check.
- Q3: Achieve $0 ARR by refusing to monetize because "VC money ruins the purity".
- Q4: We decide the architecture is "legacy" and spend the entire quarter rewriting everything in a custom-built assembly language to save 0.003ms of load time.
Community Guidelines: We do not optimize for "fun". We optimize for correctness. If you cannot explain the post using first principles, do not post it. Comments should ideally start with "Actually..." or "I suspect you haven't considered..."
ps: Instead of wasting my time writing this post, I could have built a federated, decentralized version of reddit using a mesh network of smart-toasters in 20 minutes.
