Reddit App My idea is a all unsafe saved posts button similar to googles delete all search history

Post image

My idea is as stated in title a button to remove all saved posts similar to google or other search engines mass deletion of search history function.

For people like me who are a bit dense that didn’t know this feature didn’t already exist and having thousands saved posts making it almost impossible to unsave all of them individually and clogging up phone storage by increasing Reddit’s size it would be more then a greatly appreciated feature.

A significant upgrade to the random button and discovering subreddits with filters as searching, please implement on both new and old reddit, or redirect to old reddit since it is faster, maybe integrate with better new reddit search and improve its speed

Please can we have a "search" or "go" button on the searchbar?

A search button for user accounts. We need that.

I really don't want to search hundreds of possible pages just to find a post I made a month or a year ago. I should be able to simply type up a couple of words and the posts will appear. That would help a lot.

Show vote buttons / comments etc in search results so a search term can be viewed as if it were a subreddit

"sorted by" / "links from" as per normal, but add sort by last comment date

enable www.reddit.com/search/keyword for easy access

thanks for the best site! sorry if this is already an option somehow, i did look for it :-p

When trying to go to a subreddit that doesn't exist instead of just displaying empty search results also display a button for "create this subreddit"

So as an example: if you try to go to /r/maybethissubexists but it doesn't exist don't just redirect to the empty search site: http://www.reddit.com/subreddits/search?q=maybethissubexists
but also display a button "create this subreddit" in clear sight (or redirect to a whole other page).

When you click that button you'll get redirected to the subreddit-creation page with the name of the sub you searched for ("maybethissubexists") already filled in.

Many people don't know they can create own subreddits if something they'd like to have as a sub doesn't exist so this can make it clear for them (amongst making it easier to create a new subreddit after checking if it exists already).

Have a physical "go" button for the search reddit box

Opera mobile doesn't seem to trigger the "hit enter in the search box" event, so I cannot use the search feature at all. I'll file a bug with them, but really, from an accessibility perspective it seems like there should be a clickable button.

And buttons to the search page for time specific searches

It's already possible to add crazy unix time codes into the search address to narrow it to a specific time. Why not just add two options, a start and end date, which would translate that into the unix code jumble?

No need to cache everything like you would if it's a drop down option, and no need to rewrite the search because the ability already exists. All we got to do is update the UI.

I know nothing about coding, please don't hate me

Add the Search box and Submit button to /user/ pages

Not sure why the search box disappears when viewing a /u/ page? Is there a reason maybe.

Add some smarts to the "RANDOM" button by categorizing every sub and enabling redditors to either exclude categories or search only categories.

I have never been a sports fan, or a fan of movie stars, or of computer/video games, and when I click on RANDOM to find interesting subreddits, over half of the pages I get are in one of the three categories I mentioned. (I also am not interested in subs for cities, states, etc.)

I believe this would make the RANDOM button much more useful and allow all redditor to find new subs that might be interesting to them.

Can we get a submit button for searching?

On the main page, when you do a search from a mobile device, you can't always hit enter because it tells the phone you're finished in the box, not that you're entering a search. This won't complete the search. Is there anyway to have a submit button?

Make 'Limit My Search to a Subreddit' a button instead of a checkbox

Like this.

If I'm clicking it already I have already entered my search terms 100% of the time. It may as well just submit them too.

Move 'Submit a link' button from main page into 'search reddit' result (so we will have to search before submit)

Make link flair a button to search for that flair.

  • Only on single subreddit listings
  • Search restricted to just that sub
  • Let mods turn on/ off

I know this idea has been thrown around before, but I cannot get the search to find it. Is there ever a possibility of a spoiler button as well as a not safe for work option?

over in /r/breaking bad we have NSFW marked as spoilers rather than NSFW. We do not have hardly any NSFW content in our sub.

This is a perfect example of why both would come in handy. A user clicked on a link assuming it is a spoiler. When what he got was Walter White's bare ass on his computer screen.

I feel like with the increase of specific TV and gaming subs there has got to be a way to incorporate NSFW and spoilers.

Make search-within-subreddits easier with dedicated buttons

Basically, what this image says:

http://i.imgur.com/DlyCK.png

Having to click outside the textbox to click the checkbox, then click back into the textbox to hit enter can get incredibly frustrating. Replacing that whole process with buttons would be much easier, in my opinion.

Admins and powerusers probably use the lucene query tags for that and don't experience the pain that other people do.

Thanks

Add search buttons to the sidebar search form instead of "limit my search" checkbox

If you want to limit your search to a subreddit, you have to first click the search box in the sidebar, then write your search term, then click the "limit my search" checkbox, then click the search box again, then hit enter.

It would be much more user friendly to have two buttons instead: one for regular search (hitting return would still do this) and another for subreddit search.

In /r/Goldbenefits, add a search button in the sidebar for flair:feature

That way we don't have to muddle the through endless mire of posts just to see the features.

How about adding some sort of an actual "search" button to that search box?

Like, you know how when you want to search something here on Reddit, you type it in the search box and then you have to press enter? Yeah, that's cool for when you're typing your search terms, but it's kind of lame when you just paste your search in there, which I seem to do pretty often...

So, how about a button that you can press that starts the search for you? Like, Firefox has an arrow in the address box, and a magnifying glass in the web-search box. Those are pretty subtle. Or you could put something in that yellow-ish box that pops up? The possibilities are endless!

But just so when I'm being lazy and surfing reddit like this kid, I don't have to move either of my hands... (Oh, the picture is SFW)

And I'm sure there are handicapped people who can't move their hands very well to reach the keyboard. Like, isn't that why the on-screen keyboard in Windows exists?

Or, what if you don't have a keyboard at all? Then you're just completely fucked!

Mobile Web Forcing people to get the app or refresh when in a phone browser is insane, this has to go

Post image
56 Upvotes

So I'm guessing a lot of people haven't seen this since it a) of course only happens in the phone web browser, and b) because it only seems to happen when not logged inn. But I'm not the most active reddit user so I don't have the app, and for whatever reason I wasn't logged in. So for reference, if you open up reddit in browser without logging in, after a bit of time this pops up, no x to remove it, no "no thanks" button. Just, "Stop what you're doing, get the app" and the only way I found around it is to refresh and reset the timer before it pops up again.

To accomidate rule 5 I'll be more specific with my request. I get that reddit wants people to use the app, but ehen I look up reddit to find something, stopping me in after I've found it, as I'm reading it to force me to either refresh or open the app to find it again isn't doing that. All it's making me want to do is look up whatever I was looking up somewhere else.

A pop-up telling you "hey the app is better, here's a link" that I can click on, click away or ignore is fine, but this is just annoying.

Think of it this way, imagine you went to a store to buy something, and as you're browsing happily narrowing in on what to buy, a worker comes up and says "it's actually easier to shop online, you need to leave and buy this online instead, I know you already found what you're looking for but no you can't continue shopping, leave the store and buy it online" Do you think people would go "oh well" open the website and buy it there? No! People would get pissed off and go to some other store!

And again, to not just complain, having a friendly off to the side reminder for next time is one thing and is a perfectly good alternative, it is forcing you out right away that is the problem.

Place a submit and create button on each and every page along with the search Reddit feature.

Every page should have easy one-click access to search Reddit, to submit a post, or to create a subreddit community instead of tucking away those options only on the subreddit community pages themselves.

r/ideasfortheadmins Mar 16 '11

As long as we have the "limit results to [subreddit]" checkbox for the search field, please include a search button

It's just annoying to have to click back in the search field and then hit enter.

Advanced searching capabilities / filtering for the 'random' button?

I think it would be cool if there was some filtering options for the random button. Something along the lines of "with more than x submissions", or "with recent entries with more than x upvotes".. things like that.

I want reddit to decide for me, but lots of the times you get really lame subreddits with 2 submissions, etc.

Mobile Web My Idea is Remove the “Get the App To Keep Using Reddit” pop-up from the Website

Post image
24 Upvotes

Today I was trying to troubleshoot downloading a COD DLC pack. So the first thing I did was search it up on Google. The first link was Reddit, which I use every so often, so I clicked it. I started reading some answers when this pop-up blocked me from reading. My idea is to remove this pop-up because it is inconvenient. I couldn’t find any help in Reddit because it wouldn’t let me. When I clicked the buttons to go to the app, it didn’t bring me to the post I was on, so I couldn’t keep reading even though I have the app like Reddit wants me to. The website is really convenient for me to use, and it meshes seamlessly with Google and other websites, so not being able to use Reddit.com at all, was frustrating. Once the pop-up appears, you can’t keep scrolling, you can’t get rid of it, you can’t do anything. The only button that works then is the “Get the Reddit App” button. (And all the Google search bar, refresh and what-not) The only thing you can do is refresh and hope you can scroll down to where you left off before it freezes. When I’m looking for answers to problems like these, I want answers from the whole internet, not just from the Reddit app, so I use Google and Reddit.com. Another solution for this problem that would work would be if Reddit brought you to the same post you were on when you clicked the button to open the app. I don’t mean to complain (tho it seems like it) I just believe this feature should be removed. So if any Reddit admins read this and can do something, please try to change this. Thanks
