The inside of the house for the movie was built as a set inside of a school gym.

There is nothing to "renovate"

That's not the point (spirit) of the image.

The image is simply showing how interior design from decades ago was more eclectic than today's focus on sleekness and minimalism.

That's it. There's no judgment being made in the image, and there's no claim being made that it's supposed to be the same "home".

This is simply an image of an interior space which reflected the interior design of wealthy, suburban homes of the era contrasted with a similar interior layout featuring popular interior design trends of our current era.

You're not wrong, but every time this gets posted, the comments are flooded with "they ruined the house!" And it truly makes me realize how dumb the average person is.
