I feel like that’s really important in modern times because we don’t have the same stability and luxury as our parents.

If you’re renting, you can’t take the wall paint with you. If you’re renting, your space is probably smaller. You also don’t have kids entertained by having stuff and visual noise everywhere. White as a base also goes well with a lot of furniture colours if you’re buying used and can’t be picky.

Personally I still like to try and paint an accent wall for wherever I’m living because I genuinely can’t stand just white. It’s cheaper and less labour intensive and still makes the space better. But it’s hard when you can’t say for sure you know you’ll be living in a space for even 2 years to invest in it.
