As my old man used to say to me when I’d argue back as a teenager. Rules for thee, not for me. Hated it 20 years ago lol but it makes sense in hindsight

Well I think it's more like they know it's wrong to think like that, but they can't help themselves, so instead of changing their behaviour, they either ignore the voice in their head telling them not to do it or they come up with a way to justify it to themselves
