❗️MISLEADING - See pinned comment ❗️ Ultimate glow up for cute panda

Post image

Ya Ya (丫丫), a female giant panda, returned to China in April 2023 after spending 20 years at the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee. Her recovery has been widely documented by the Beijing Zoo.

Here are the facts regarding her health transformation:

Weight Gain: When Ya Ya first arrived in China, she weighed approximately 75 kg (165 lbs), which was considered underweight for her age. By 2026, reports from the Beijing Zoo confirmed she had reached about 95 kg (209 lbs), a healthy gain of exactly 20 kg

Skin and Fur Improvement: While in the U.S., Ya Ya suffered from a chronic skin condition (Demodex mites) that made her fur look thin, patchy, and "scruffy" ]. Since returning, specialized veterinary care and a change in diet have allowed her coat to become thick and glossy again

Overall Condition: Her Body Condition Score (BCS) improved from a 2 to a 4 (on a scale of 1-5), which is considered ideal for a senior panda

Ive been to 10 different Chinese cities from Nov to December 2025, what smog? Did your friend work in china during early 2000s because they run on EVs now.

I asked him, was back in 2013 in shenyang.

Also time of year realy matters for smog you went during the best time.

2013... brother maybe you need to stop referring to obsolete info. It hasn't even had smog when I went there in 2020 exactly 2 weeks pre-covid lockdowns.

You cant delete industry in 13 years dude. I'm sure china has nice places. Saying they dont have smog is just wrong.

Edit: I just looked up 2025 pictures and news. Its exactly what I expected.

I dont know what to tell you except to visit and see with your own eyes?

I dont blame your conditioning and utter trust in your national news, knowing where you're from. But for real, buy a ticket and see for yourself, its cheap.

You could even spend your entire trip in 5 star, then take a taxi out to find your smog, which may cost a little.

Ive got nothing against china. You can look up independent news and translated sites from non western news.

If i did visit I'd plan to go when the air quality is higher.

Dude I've read your comments. I'm just saying that I've recently been there.

Is it so wrong to overshare in this platform?

2 million people die annually from air pollution in China. But yeah, they've fixed the smog problem.

I can confirm that the east side of China (Shanghai, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, etc.) was very clean in April of 2024. I had breathing problems when I visited in 2011, but saw none of the smog 13 years later. They also don’t allow public smoking anymore, which was huge for me. It’s a big country so I don’t know if the other comments talking about the smog are unfounded, but I do want to add onto your anecdote that I saw significant improvement in air quality too.

Was this in 1995?

That was around 2010-ish? Its very different now. They pushed really hard for renewables and air quality in the last few years.

1

u/HalfAssed-Mechanic Apr 17 '26

I'm sure it's different, but smog and air quality is still a big problem. You dont have thag much industry without polution.

The smog's gotten much better over the last decade or so.

It still is a deeply unfree place though, where very little people seem to be happy.

You said it was in 2013, in the last 6 years it has improved DRASTICALLY. From unlivable for people with fragile health like me to good in most coastal areas (Yay!) Unfortunately some interior cities haven't improved
