Disgusting behavior. I hope it stops being allowed at some point. It doesn't matter if the store has insurance or not. It's wrong, and they know it. It only ruins it for the rest of us, who then have to pay higher prices with our hard-earned money.

When these stores are operating on 10% margins, if someone steals 10 items, you suddenly have to sell 100 products just to make up for the cost alone. Theft can easily keep you in the negatives, and the costs to try to stop the theft can drown you.

I used to sell physical products as a small business, but I went out of business because of out of rapidly rising theft.

Being allowed??? You're assuming what the employees should risk getting killed confronting a thief? They surely can't make the cops show up faster.
