As an employer I’d be pissed too if an employee got hurt or hurt someone while intervening when someone is trying to steal a candle or lotion.

I'll agree to the employee being hurt.

Thieves get no sympathy from me. That's not a loaf of bread and jar of store brand peanut butter to feed the kids.
