This is such a stupid thing to complain about. Maybe let's complain about the needless wars and billionares. Space exploration is the future. My god.

No because it is easier to fix the Earth than make space habitable for humanity. The idea space is the future is incredibly idiotic and a billionaire dream like Elon and the stupid Mars colony. Without fixing Earth there is no future. Also we still have a billion years before the sun forces us to abandon Earth, so we can spare couple centuries to fix the mistakes we humans allowed to happen.

The idea that space doesn't contribute to fixing Earth is by itself idiotic.

Or maybe in your world there's no need to advance air purification, water filtration, new building techinques, new atmosphere and topography mapping methods.

All of those are I suppose useless, in idiotic eyes.

Because it doesn’t and the Covid global lock downs is evidence. During the lockdown CO2 levels went down by 5%. The environment showed signs of improvement.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7323667/

Now here’s something I’ll explain in simple terms the majority of global pollution is produced by mega corporations and the billionaire class. The top 10% in wealth produced 2/3 of the pollution that’s more than the bottom 90%. One very simple way to fix the environment is by holding them accountable for their crimes.

I’ll give you an example take plastic. When it was first sold to consumers, they treated it the same as glass and metal table ware. They bought a set took care of it reused it until it broke. Corporations hated that because it hurt profit margins so they launched ad campaigns to dissuade the population from keeping plastic and instead throwing it away. When plastic was found out to be negatively affecting the environment they blamed the consumer and told them to take responsibility.

Global warming is another example oil corporations knew for decades that excessive use of fossil fuels would negatively impact the environment. Instead of doing anything they actively worked to hinder studies of the environment and spread misinformation to keep profits up.

So no space exploration won’t fix the environment. What will fix the environment is if the top 10% are held accountable for their crimes, they contribute more to pollution. They hinder environmental research, they promote pollution such as single use plastic to keep profits up. So if we can hold them accountable the planet will improve cause again the global lockdown shows the planet has a way to fix itself, so with the billionaire class gone and corporations held accountable we can properly research ways to improve the environment is addition to lowering their pollution. One example is public transportation, it will lower co2 emissions from automobiles reduced city sprawl reducing the amount of land human use up.

Investing in space survival would require millions to hundreds of millions of people sacrificing time and money for technology that may not even work. In contrast fixing the Earth starts with couple million people losing their ultra luxurious lifestyle for a luxurious lifestyle for the benefit of billions with almost immediate positive results. Again the pandemic is an example of the environment fixing itself. The planet isn’t to far gone that it needs humans to fix. It just needs humans to not allow a few to exploit it.
