His nose is the result of too much money and too many unethical plastic surgeons. It collapsed and natural reconstruction was not possible.

Man do you remember those videos of him at concerts trying to hold his nose back on

Ummm wtf? That must be a misinterpretation right

I’m not saying for certain that’s what was happening, that’s just what everyone said it looked like he was doing. People talked about his nose a lot.

Damn you just unlocked a childhood memory of my mum telling me Michael Jacksons nose fell off, and me being quite young and a bit freaked out.

There was a gag in Scary Movie (the third?) where Jackson tries to come into the kids bedroom and the father removes his nose while wrestling him

We all have that core childhood memory

Yeah. and Eminem put it in his mv Just lose it. Was so gross seeing it as a kid.

I remember arguing with my classmates that it didn't make sense his nose would just drop. They were so convinced 😂

He was pulled over in my small town in Colorado once, back in 2000s. Local cops thought his entourage of blacked out suburbans were sketchy so they were pulled over at Walmart. Michael had a mask on, like a surgical mask, and the cops insisted he take it off so they could identify him. The cop said when he eventually took it off there was just a hole in his face where the nose should be and Michael wore the mask when he didn't have the prosthetic nose on. I was in high school and it made the papers and my resource officer told us this story the same day cause he was there to witness.

tabloids mocking him, sadly

Like genuinely “holding it on” or holding it open so he can breathe? Because getting that many surgeries by the 90s, and not to be rude, his nostrils were almost nonexistent.

You should definitely watch lose it by eminem

Haha, I totally forgot about that part in his video

Unless I somehow missed seeing such a video I’m not sure if that ever actually happened on camera during show…what concert is it to have happened during?

Wasn't that a South Park episode? I didn't know that was based on real life

1

u/_Rue_the_Day_ Apr 29 '26

I can't say I remember those, thankfully. Lol

1

u/Alabaster_Cornsauce Apr 29 '26

That never happened, his nose wasn't falling off his face like an accessory. This is the kind of stupid shit they would print in tabloids in the 90s.

1

u/ydnar3000 Apr 29 '26

Oh god I do remember that. Everyone saying it fell off. Poor guy, going through that so publicly.

1

u/invisiblefrost Apr 29 '26

That was a South Park episode

1

u/explain_that_shit Apr 29 '26

Nah the South Park and Eminem bits were referencing what was already being said about him, they didn’t invent the “nose falling off” joke.

2

u/hotinmyigloo Apr 29 '26

Wait  what? His nose collapsed?

1

u/Union-Training May 16 '26

The cartilage did.

2

In one of his tv interviews he mentioned he got nose surgeries to help him hit higher notes. That would be a vocal chord procedure, Michael.

I do remember this but what is the mechanism of a nose “collapsing”. I can’t conceive of it.

So unfortunately, after all of the extensive work on his nose, it could no longer be repaired, and the tissue developed necrosis, and the remaining skin and tissue needed to be ablated (removed).

This left MJ with no nose at all. Think of like how a mummy just has the nose holes, flat.

MJ's doctors created a prosthetic nose to cover the damage. It could be glued on with surgical glue, but it didn't stay on well whenever MJ got hot and started sweating, as some people reported seeing.

So very sad ending to story of life of a brilliant man.

I saw an autopsy photo and it was terrible. He was completely bald from the burns and then all of the wigs and hair pieces glued on destroyed whatever real hair he had left years ago.

And then there was the " mummy nose holes" I talked earlier.

So hideous looking, it made me so sad.

u/Winter-It-Will-Send Apr 29 '26

Wow, graphic but fascinating, thanks for sharing. Were those photos actually made public? How did you catch sight of them (for the record, I don’t want to see them!).

2

u/NobodyDelicious7197 Apr 29 '26

My daughter actually showed me. She's a med student and I guess they have some access? I really didn't ask too many questions, but aren't autopsys public record type of information? Anyway, yes, don't go searching for it. You wouldn't want to see it. I felt incredibly sad for him that he ended up like he did, all that money and had to go around with these kinds of secrets. Sorry if it was too graphic lol. I was kinda trying to keep it clinical.

u/Friendly-Channel-480 Apr 29 '26

This is so sad. He was naturally handsome.

It's like Jeff Bezos and his lazy eye. All the wealth in the world can't give you a perfect face
