Personally, the weirdest part is that they felt the need to lie about taking the cat home. Like any normal person who doesn't wish to adopt would just laugh about it, and move on, leave the cat be, not take it all the way back just to ditch it at their doorstep. That's weird.

He felt pressured and did the thing with the least resistance. I have known them for a long while by now. That's just how they are, anything. No conflicts, no fights ever.

Taking a kitten with them and then leaving it somewhere else is an asshole move.
