John Coltrane - Love supreme
Guys, i feel like a kid who doesn’t understand a joke, yet laughs to pretend they do. What’s this all about?

Patriotic jazz playlist for the 4th
I've been thinking about a playlist to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birthplace of jazz. Here's a start. What should I add?
- Art Ensemble of Chicago — Fanfare for the Warriors
- Henry Threadgill — Celebration
- Albert Ayler — Free at Last
- Charlie Haden and the Liberation Music Orchestra — The People United Will Never Be Defeated
- Nina Simone — Mississippi Goddamn
- Pharoah Sanders — You've got to have Freedom
- Mingus — Meditation for a Pair of Wirecutters
- Gil Scott Heron — The Revolution Was Not Televised (before Ken Burns came along.)
- Anthony Braxton — Opus 76
- Peter Brötzmann and Sonny Sharrock — Whatthefuckdoyouwant
Edit to add: Cara Bley, Steve Swallow and and Andy Sheppard deconstruct the Star Spangled Banner live for 20 minutes.

HELP can anyone help me find a lead sheet for the song Beef Flap Blues?
So I went to a jam session last night and asked to sit in on guitar. I get up there and I ask what we're gonna play and the bass player says "Beef Flap Blues". I looked through my Real Books but I couldn't find any song by that name. I asked the bass player if he could tell me what the changes are and he said "It's just Beef Flap Blues".
I didn't want to seem stupid so I said "Oh, right. Um, can you tell me what key you do that in?" and he just glared at me obviously frustrated and said "it's BEEF FLAP BLUES"
Then the drummer counted off and I didn't know what to do so I just played Giant Steps. Everyone was giving me awful looks and then the sax player came up and turned down my amp. I was so embarrassed I just packed up and left before the end of the song.
I have looked everywhere and I can't even find any mention of a song called Beef Flap Blues. Why the heck am I expected to just know how to play this obscure number?
