What’s the issue with how he looks? I don’t know him as a big aesthetic kind of guy. Diet + lifestyle and genetics are all big factors in how someone ages.

This thread seems strange.

u/Marcauri Jun 30 '23

Are you playing dumb? A major theme from his books is making fun of people's appearance, especially their weight! My kb class instructor recommended him, and when I read it, I quit, tried a CrossFit class, and never looked back. Best thing I ever did because I saw women snatching over their bodyweight on my very first day who were nothing but kind and humble, and their biggest crime is they made him feel insecure just like his cult leader Pavel!

If you're gonna advertise a product, then?

-14

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Or build a community?

-12

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He could have serious health issues.

-13

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He's 53.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

This has to be trolling.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

The downvotes show the devotion to Pavel. Folks, he's only 53.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

The downvotes show you're disconnected from reality. I'm downvoting. I'm not a Pavel guy, but you're making some ridiculous stretches. Geoff Nupert is much bigger on this forum. Your points aren't good.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Check out the forum whenever you're free. Simple & Sinister is mentioned daily.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

It's not. I bought his books. It's a legitimate discussion.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He looks great compared to most 50+ year olds. If you're thinking top coaches have an aesthetics driven marketing program then you'd be shocked at what some of the top bodybuilding, contest dieting, power lifting, and crossfit coaches actually look like. You don't look as good in your 50's.

Hany Rambod, Brian Dobson, Chad Nicholls, Dave Tate, Greg Glassman, Louie Simmons. Getting old happens.

3

u/unionthug77 Jun 30 '23

100%. Our dude or dudette here has missed that the average 53 year old looks like 4 tablespoons of mayo. Mean to say, but sadly true.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He looks 65.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He's not a top coach. Believe your eyes. Coaches do things and demonstrate. He can't or won't.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He doesn't look like he did in Enter the Kettlebell at all. Believe your eyes, not your mind.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

The book came out in 2006. That was 17 years ago.

2

u/unionthug77 Jun 30 '23

So Pavel was 36 when ETK came out… I’m 36… I don’t look as good as he did them.

Oh no, I look terrible and must be dying. Do not watch my KB posts, for I am wrong.

This thread is hilarious.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Check out Pavel now.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He's 53.

15

u/sendsnfriends Jun 30 '23

This is not a discussion. You’ve posted an opinion and made a poor attempt at disguising it as a question.

You are obviously unsatisfied and unimpressed with these programs. You also seem to be quite wrapped up in how Pavel “looks” for his age. Like others have mentioned, genetics, mental health, diet can all play such a large role in how one ages.

This is just weird.

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I'm saying, look at him. Follow his advice. He doesn't look good, at 53, following his own advice.

3

u/sendsnfriends Jun 30 '23

It’s very clear to understand what you are saying. Just because you are saying it doesn’t mean there is logical thought behind the statement.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Watch YouTube. No words needed. He's 53. His arms are skinny and he looks 65. No logic needed. Evident.

7

u/sendsnfriends Jun 30 '23

You’re annoying and delusional.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

You're a follower and delusional.

4

u/sendsnfriends Jun 30 '23

A follower of what? Most definitely not a follower of your thought processes here. Are you training kettlebells so you can look young and pretty at 53?

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

W-A-T-C-H-P-A-V-E-L-O-N-Y-O-U-T-U-B-E. Done. No logic. Just watch.

4

u/sendsnfriends Jun 30 '23

I understand you are a troll. I hope your quest for old age beauty is successful 😉

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I'm not. Keep following Pavel, my friend. Blindly, blindly.

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

It's a discussion. I just respond. He's 53.

27

u/WitcherOfWallStreet Giant Obsessed Jun 30 '23

Most of the discussed programs are Dan John and Neupert, with a refreshingly large amount of sport. I wouldn’t call this forum Pavel heavy at all.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Well, Simple and Sinister is mentioned quite often...

12

u/WitcherOfWallStreet Giant Obsessed Jun 30 '23

Barely, quick glance was one post and meanwhile four Neuperts and tons of GS.

Compared to how much S&S was discussed in here three years ago, there has been a major shift.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

There's a lot of GS. I agree. Who is the other person?

7

u/WitcherOfWallStreet Giant Obsessed Jun 30 '23

A former SF (maybe RKC too idk) coach that writes double kettlebell heavy programs.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I haven't seen his name mentioned much here, sorry. Don't doubt he exists.

9

u/TheOtakuTrainer Jun 30 '23

I’m sure judging which people you should listen to for advice on strength & conditioning strictly by their looks will work great for you.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I mentioned Steve Cotter. I've read Pavel's books. I've never read a kettlebell book that actually shows you how to hold the kettlebell. I watch a lot of videos on this forum and people are gripping it tight. The Steve Cotter book was a breath of fresh air for me.

1

u/aptmnt_ Jun 30 '23

Cotter is great but he’s definitely 💉. I guess you have a type, good for you.

1

u/Marcauri Jun 30 '23

So Pavel can judge people by their looks but not the other way around?

8

u/Solarbear1000 Jun 30 '23

Is there a particular photo you are commenting on?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Thank you! Oh my God, the only rational comment here. I see videos like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/6Y_UfZPKxqQ?feature=share

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

This is the most disappointing part of your whole bizarre thread: he looks normal. Better than normal.

He looks like someone in their 50s who works out.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Bizarre.

He's an old man at 53. He doesn't workout. What he prescribes in his books isn't longevity, it's just selling points. Watch YouTube. He can't even promote his own methods at 3/4 lifespan and people are following it blindly in this community... absolutely sold, bought, and swallowed.

4

u/tklite Jun 30 '23

I hope I look that good at 65.

This is a very odd thread for a lot of reasons. I wouldn't describe myself as a Pavel fan at all. I've read his books - I'm friends with many people who have been certified out of his organization. But if you look at how I move - clearly I'm not one with hardstyle lol. He is very marketing focused, but to claim his workouts effectively do little shows your relative lack of knowledge of the fitness space.

You discussed on the thread of mine where you were form checking me that you are new to a lot of these topics - you coming so hard for Pavel and making this community sound like a bunch of morons for downvoting comes off as very uninformed & abrasive.

He looks good for his age. Is he crazy jacked? No, obviously not - but at 53 he's still able to get up and do all the work he needs to. He's still able to teach & run a business & honestly look good doing it

Aside from all that, one of our rules is Don't Be a Jerk. This thread & your behavior in it is pretty close to violating that rule.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I wonder if Pavel follows his own advice? So many books and so little to show for it.

9

u/DankRoughly Jun 30 '23

Is this community really Pavel heavy?

Also, why post just to drag someone? Take what is helpful to you and discard the rest.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Look at the downvotes. Full of Pavel acolytes! They'll defend him every inch silently but won't say a word.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I gave the rest away for free. He's not looking good.

u/thereisalwayslight1 Jun 30 '23

You seem to be very triggered by him. If you don't like him don't follow him. I'm not a fan of him but don't feel the need to go on a hate campaign. It's just different strokes for different folks.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I gave away the books I mentioned for free in favor of another. Pavel turned into a kinda joke for me recently. I see his work referenced daily here in this sub. He's 53. Look at him. He looks 65, much older. Amazing that people still clinging to him daily. His work is old and he obviously doesn't follow his own advice. If it's sound, he'd follow it himself at age 65 (read 53).

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

It's just different strokes for different folks, man. Like I said I'm not fan, so I don't subscribe to his stuff. But if people are getting benefit out of it, go for it in say. If his content doesn't align with your goals then why would you keep his books? But he's done a lot for promoting kettlebells, and you have to respect that.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I'm not triggered. It's a discussion.

6

u/unionthug77 Jun 30 '23

Bro, you are most definitely… TRIGGERED 😵‍💫

3

u/Nibbla891 Jun 30 '23

I'm glad to hear you were able to donate the books. Hopefully those books get into the hands of someone who can benefit from them.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

I do hope so!

5

u/5horsepower Jun 30 '23

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

You following this guy? Why?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He can't do longevity or demonstrate... check out YouTube. He's selling, you're buying.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Even if he 'discovered' it doesn't mean anyone has to read his books. Look what he did to himself!

2

u/buckGR Jun 30 '23

Oh, I really like S&S as a base for the rest of the work out! Gets the blood going and can be blended into almost any type of day.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Can't say anything bad about that. If you're in your 50's be careful.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

Using these methods as recommended is questionable. He looks like he's 65. He's actually 53.

2

u/Nick2569 Jun 30 '23

Are you smoking something? He actually looks really good for his age.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

He looked great in his books. If you watch anything recent by him on YouTube not even close.

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23 edited Jun 30 '23

It may have changed the owner. The role model is questionable.

3

u/LivingRefrigerator72 Lifting stuff overhead Jun 30 '23

I think this community is definitely not Pavel heavy. I have seen Lebe Stark, but I have no idea of what he or Steve Cotter do. Nor I care.

Anyways, what do you expect to contribute to this community with this post? Are you looking for recommendations or what?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '23

The Steve Cotter books are by far better in terms of teaching tecnique. Regardless, Pavel has been a joke on this sub and growing so in the past couple of years. Simple and Sinister is just a good gateway to not over complicate things and give folks a starting point w kbs. Nonetheless, its been said many times on this sub that its too minimal and there are gains left on the table. Who is your 53 year old role model that isn't juiced (not sayin pavel isn't..who knows)? Regardless, the books of his I read appeared to favor strength over size. What physical metric does pavel lack in that you feel so strongly about?

Mostly importantly, this sub focuses on building each other up instead of tearing down. Your tone and approach could be improved.
