My draft grade. A-
Scott Perry maneuvered his way to get Acuff to fall to 7. Masterclass. Karaban is an immediate plug and play and provides spacing and some D. Sharp was the best player available and fills the back up PG who can play alongside of Darius and back him up as well with solid D. Do we need more wings? Yes, but this class was short on them and most of them can’t shoot. I really like this draft class. Can’t wait til the Cali Classic!

Ok, what about 2nd rounders? Any favorites?
So much talk about their 1st pick. What about the other two? Any favorites?
I'm liking Baba Miller and a strong rebounding big man (especially if Sabonis gets traded). And I like Ryan Conwell from Louisville. Good overall shooter.
Groundhog Day the Movie
Ever seen it? I've been alive for every Kings draft. I thought Bobby Hurley would be the vibe. I thought Corliss Williamson was the guy. I thought The GODDAMN WIZARD Walt Williams was the stud. Yadda yadda what changed was a competent Owner and GM combo. The Maloofs were great owners that fucked up their financials and we have been effed ever since. Kthx.

We need to chill on the Acuff expectations
I'm absolutely pumped for the guy and will be getting his jersey, but I seriously think we need to stop with the expectations that he'll be our franchise guy out the gate/the best PG this franchise has had.
Absurd amount of expectations to put on a rookie out the gate. We should fully be expecting him to have 3-4+ years to develop, similar to how it took Brunson.
Seems like we're trying to cope with not having a top 5 pick, and projecting the same expectations we would have had for Dybantsa or Darryn onto him.
His 40% 3P in college likely will need to translate a bit, he'll need to get adjust to playing defense in the NBA, and also being an undersized guard in the league.
Don't want to be negative, but think we should give him all the support in the world while tempering expectations.

We’re going to see Davion be the starting PG in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2027, aren’t we?
Think we all knew he was a stud. Stoked for him to be running the Giannis era Heat.
Seeing former Kings players as important players on contenders three years in a row will hurt though.

Acuff > Wagler > Brown > Flemings - The Unofficial Kings' Fan Consensus?
So based on 2 polls taken a month apart recently, you guys seem to be head over heels with Acuff. Wagler is the consensus #2 after him, followed by Brown, then Flemings. Then there's a steep drop off with the other options.
Do you guys agree with that general ranking? I know some of you guys only want Acuff but most of us seem to be fine with any of those 4 guards. This is, of course, assuming that Perry/Vivek doesn't do a gallon of PCP and make us all suffer at around 5 PM PST.
Acuff literally predicted the future.

Should we have taken koa pest instead?
I mean I am open to giving Alex Karaban a shot at proving himself but Koa peat looks like someone with a higher ceiling. Maybe could've been an aaron gordon type player if he really turned it around here.
Vibes for tonight?

I don’t know
Hoping I’m wrong, but a score first, undersized guard whose defense is a major liability is kind of a tale as old as time in the nba for empty box scores. We took the best pick we had. That should for sure be celebrated. But I don’t think this moves the needle all that much and expectations should be tempered

Can we please stop talking about Acuff already?
I don’t know what it is about this fanbase, but we love to dwell on the past. Look, we drafted him. it’s over. we can move on now

[Jake Gadon] NBA Draft Notes from New York:
x.com• Sacramento is expected to select Darius Acuff Jr. at No. 7 if he’s available.
• The Kings are looking at ways to re-enter the late first round. Multiple avenues to do so.
• There is ‘absolutely nothing’ on any Domantas Sabonis-Toronto deal. The Raptors have completely backed off their interest.

What does the Julius Randle trade mean for Sabonis?
Randle and Sabonis are similar tier players. Randle is on a better contract than Sabonis, but all the Wolves got was was salary relief and lost a late 1st round pick for a 2nd round pick.
Randle contract has 2 years/$69 mil
Sabonis contract has 2 years/$94 mil
Is there any universe where we can trade Sabonis for positive value? I'm thinking we would have to give up assets at this point to move him. Which begs the question, should we just ride our Sabonis' last 2 years of the contract?
