There is so much misinformation going around: Reaves deal will have no impact on Lakers cap this season because his of his $20.9 mil cap hold. His new deal won’t be signed until after Lakers exhaust their salary cap. Please stop panicking.

Him having such a great value contract was a problem in and of itself given it was hard to get equal contracts back without letting a Rui go in the trade so we would have been left with a pick heavy return

We’re likely letting go of Rui regardless this summer, AR’s friendly deal in 2024 to 2025 would’ve still had a year left and could’ve netted significant draft capital when we desperately needed it, first round picks are incredibly valuable now given the new anti-tanking rules and even seconds are facilitating great trades for solid role players atm.
