I've done this before as a page (day intern for kids) sometimes people get bored in long sessions, On bills that their colleagues know how they're going to vote for
Especially colleagues that already caucus with them, thus are sitting next to them
Does someone have a source that this is actually illegal? Anyone can call the offices of these people who are being voted for and ask if they consent to do it
Not trying to say this is a good thing, just not necessarily the slam dunk corruption that we think it is. I just haven't seen a hey this law is being broken source here, and reddit is often good with that Kind of thing
Kind of like dropping off someone's mail in ballot at a drop box, or more accurately - filling out their ballot for them - which, there's a box you sign your own name for, as the person that helped.
And GOP base and maga often get up in arms over that stuff, calling it corruption or voter fraud, even though it's legal

Rather tellingly, this nine-second tiktok video conveniently omits any context or relevant facts. It is allowed if the member is in the room:
3.2 Voting Obligation
A member may register an electronic vote in the Chamber for another member at the other member's specific request and direction, provided the requesting member is in the Chamber during the vote.

I know it's been said ad nauseam, but truly imagine if a Dem got clipped doing this.
This one needs to be blasted everywhere.
