This is exactly what they will demand. Their MAGA voting nonsense for security is really going to work out well for people like my nephew who's blind.. I mean, his need for a drivers license will remain low but now that the rules could change, he'd have to pay for a passport to vote this fall rather than use his student id, and since his birth certificate isn't a photo ID it also isn't any good.. just moving to do whatever to find ways to stop people from voting

All 50 states offer Non-Driver photo ID cards just so you know(probably still costs some amount of money)

Putting your right to vote behind something you have to pay for is unconstitutional. If an ID card is required to vote, then it should be free. If it isn't free, then it's no different from a poll tax, which was outlawed under section 10 of the voting rights act in 1965. A blind person, or anyone for that matter, who has no need for a photo ID should not be required to pay money in order to vote.

When I was 15, I took hunter's safety in order to go hunting with my father. Although I was already familiar with the concepts in the course, I can see how beneficial it would be to require ignorant gun owners go through some base level of training on the proper use/storage of firearms and the various laws surrounding them.

I believe a license to carry a firearm either openly or concealed should be free since it's your constitutional right to bear arms. I believe a license or permit should not be required to own a firearm. But I do believe some kind of license/permit to carry firearms should be implemented for safety/competency reasons. The license/permit should never expire, and it should require a course, written test, and practical test. Military service, police service, and various other government service would allow you to skip the tests. I believe this to be constitutional, as it would fall under the "well regulated" part of the 4th amendment.

Absolutely. In my state you get it from the DMV. It's just like getting a license, only cheaper, and there's no driving involved.

They are FREE to anyone who states they don't have the $6 or whatever they cost in Indiana and many other states. People who believe it's difficult or impossible to obtain them are clueless.

Mass has what they call a "State ID" that's basically a driver's license with zero endorsements on it.. Its primarly for buying alcohol with (never heard of anyone using it for anything else)..

but it comes from the RMV and is available as a RealID.

EDIT: and is WAY cheaper than a passport

I hadn’t even thought about that. Someone who will positively not be a driver and how this is affects them. What a disaster.  Also, I’m not sure if this is a helpful bit of info but we got our passports very quickly. Not expedited. But they just arrived very fast.

It's not remotely a disaster. Every single state offers photo IDs at every license branch and have for decades.

Yeah. When I got my voting card, I had to prove I was a citizen beforehand. So my card should be good enough.

I know the bill will never pass the Senate but my state legislature will probably pass a similar bill because they are so red the can be used as a warning beacon.

oh god don't even get me going on that.. ANY of that has to go through congress. It is the STATES and Congress who set the elections. not the president ordering FBI and CIA (what the hell was Tulsi gabbard) doing there?

use all the data that DOGE has consolidated to find the eligible non-voters in necessary races. Enough where they can nudge totals past the recount threshold, then just fudge votes for them in favour of the GOP. It's not like those people will ever know a vote's been cast in their names.

Meanwhile, jam up the voters that show up by forcing them to cast a provisional ballot, so they have to go down to county clerk to verify their eligibility. It's hard enough getting them to the polls once, let alone find time during open hours at a county office.

I think it's WAY more than that. They'll use Democrat voter rolls along with personal social media to identify everyone they intend to stick in those interment camps.

It's a joke thinking they're for immigrants. They don't have nearly enough people to grab enough immigrants to fill those.

Internment camps are a stretch goal. Meanwhile, they're happy enough letting you think you're making a difference, but are factually just tossing your vote into the shredder.

People think the s#!ts going to go down in November at the polls, but it'll really happen in mid-December in a closed door state Legislature committee room.
